The hateful/bigotted/racist/heartless comments will be here soon. Or is that just the other OT and PT boards?

It’s truthfully heartbreaking.

What's the question?

I can buy a rotisserie chicken and a salad for $9.38 still. Maybe even a can of green beans.

Cheaper than McDonald's

We are not all here to support others. Get a job and make up the difference. Everyone is still looking for workers.

Onions, beans, lentils, rice etc. Save veggie scraps to make veggie broth for additional flavor.

Any local coops/community gardens you can partner with boost your supplies?? Work for them after you put in your job apps each day, help each other out. Easier said than done obv. but it always comes back to you.

People are stronger together I believe and it helps to have as many people helping you as possible.

I don't know how this varies by state, but 10 or so years ago my BIL and his baby momma had a baby and an older kid from a previous baby daddy, renting a singlewide behind the Church's Chicken on Oconee street in Athens GA. They were on welfare. They had so many groceries they'd invite us over to take some (my wife and I were also poor at the time). He worked a low wage food service job in walking distance downtown as their sole source of income. They weren't taking vacations or driving nice cars or living in a nice house or saving for retirement, but they sure as hell weren't starving.

Pound of ground beef, box of Dirty Rice mix. Fam of 4 fed dinner easily. You can feed people hot pockets easily, for days. Kids qualify for reduced price/free lunch (in Houston, it's provided even when school isn't in session.)

Or, you could get a job that pays more than $10 an hour to roll pizzas off of the conveyor and into boxes. But nevermind that.

But thank the stars you don't have to dump the $1300 Samsung Galaxy S24 or DirecTV. TikToks must be filmed, and pictures must be snapped for the 'gram, after all.

Here’s an idea. Stop having kids if you can’t afford them. I have zero kids because I decided I didn’t want that responsibility, or couldn’t handle it, and no one wins in that situation.

People who don’t hold other people accountable for their dumb decisions are the problem. Stop enabling this. They should be ashamed of themselves for bringing a child into this world and blaming the government for not bailing them out.

Congrats, your kid got an apple for Christmas because you made a stupid decision.

What’s the average cost to feed a person in a nursing home per day?

How about prison?

If you said <$9.38, you are correct.

Single mom and 3 kids?

3 will eat breakfast and lunch for "free" at school. For dinner the mom will have all the high processed snacks foods, cereals, and premade sandwiches they can want. Sodas too.

She'll have a lot left over and sell those for cash. No reason to save any of that for when the kids are out of school. That's what the "summer feeding" program is for!
