even with "legends" like rod grizzard and erwin dudley....these last few years have been amazing. just need to get a little further in the dance but its a great time to be an alabama fan!

Rod Grizzard was a good one for you guys, and they went an Elite Eight (forget which year). Dudley and Jamareo Davidson were good ones; Ronald Steele would have been great if he wasn’t snakebit by injuries. But this is the best time for Bama basketball. Good team, puts up a million points, and Oats is really good. But yes, tournament results do matter.

Ronald Steele out this season w/ injury? I take he'll back next season?
I kid, I kid, that guy played for 7 years it seems though.

Advance in the tournament before you dismiss the Gottfried years.

Two Sweet 16s in four years is not bad. Y’all make it like Bama’s been bounced before the second weekend. They’ll get there.
Gottfried’s teams always underwhelmed. Even the Elite Eight squad barely made the tournament. I think they limped into the tourney as an eight seed and had to make a buzzer beater shot to get past Southern Illinois in the first round game.

Why would you make your username a Kentucky player if you're an Alabama fan. Username does not checkout.

OP, Had my doubt about Oats. But after seeing him over-achieve this year with this patch-work team, he's a good coach. I see very great things for Bama basketball in the next few years if they can keep him. They better get Oats a new arena.

Guy is probably a Bama football/UK basketball fan.

The 1976 team was a very good team. Leon Douglas, Anthony Murry, Reggie King, TR Dunn, Ricky Brown...
Indiana was the media darling that year. We got screwed.
...and Wimp had some great players but outcoached himself when the NCAA tournament came around.

Antoine Pettway's shoe is more legendary than those dudes.

Pissing your pants twice in the Sweet 16 = greatest era ever? That’s hilarious

No shite.
When I think Alabama basketball, the first two names that come to mind are Latrell Spreewell and Robert Horry.

Pettway went on to be one of the most memorable players in the Alabama basketball program. Known for his ruby red shoes, his last-second ...

Let me tell you a story young man….about a legend named Big Shot Bob…..Two story Horry….James Hollywood Robinson. Latrell Sprewell and the Hogs had many a battle in the early 90’s. Haha! Yeah, we have some history here but Nate is raising the bar!

Gottfried made it past the first weekend one time in his 11 seasons and missed the dance entirely in five of them. He had a grand total of five tourney wins.
Despite the improbable Elite 8, Oats has already surpassed him in advancing in the tourney and an opening round win will tie them in that category. He’s also made the tourney every year except for the one when it was cancelled.
Gottfried isn’t the comparison in Bama hoops. That’s Wimp Sanderson with 10 Dances and 6 sweet 16s in 12 seasons.

The OP is too young for Wimp to qualify. But sure, Wimp was a good coach and character. Oats' standing remains to be seen. Thus, my comment.
