Let me get this straight! So Bama builds an NIL center with there collective on campus, and the @NCAA thinks this isn’t illegal? They have allowed an NIL company to operate on Campus and the NCAA isn’t stopping this? Why @TomMarsLaw

That’s not what’s going on or how any of this works.

Alabama opened an NIL (name, image, likeness) center to help educate its student athletes and give them resources to help build their own brands - which is the entire intent of NIL rules. It gives them access to resources like green screens, podcasting setups, etc.

Our collective isn’t anywhere on campus, nor are any NIL deals directly associated with the University.

Educate yourself so you don’t spend a whole arse beautiful Friday mad at nothing.

Only a fool would believe that. Alabama has reputation of handing out Dodge chargers to all their players so now Alabama is like a Sunday school? We have no sin? That’s laughable.

We don't have boosters flying high school kids cross country on private jets, either.

The number of Vol fans who are so fricking stupid that they think there's nothing wrong with that is truly astonishing...even for the Tennessee fan base.

Collectives are considered boosters. A booster by definition is tied to a University.

Boosters can give all sorts of financial assistance to a university. But there are certain things they cannot do, mainly getting around NCAA rules about recruiting.

Having a collective building on campus doesn't break any recruiting rules any more than an individual booster having a building on campus would.

Boosters/collectives don't have to have distance between themselves and universities. They just can't break NCAA rules as the school is responsible for activities of their boosters.

How many schools like Alabama have endured bowl bans and scholarship reductions since the late 90's early 2000's?

We committed the unholy sins of letting a player hunt on some land and another player got to sleep on a couch when his GF kicked him out.

Tennessee should change their school cheer from "Go Big Orange!" to "But Alabama!" since that's actually what they spend most of their time saying. There are a few other schools in the conference who might want to consider doing the same.

Saban was very much opposed to this because in some ways it infringed upon his control of the recruiting process.

It may have even been the tipping point of why Saban retired. He went searching for property right after the deal was finalized.

Somebody at Alabama pocketed some serious kickback money because no administrator with a lick of sense would have signed a deal for a full 15 years. This is equivalent of extending Jimbo for as long as aTm did only after two years on the job.

The real slammer is that most of the Learfield staff at Bryant Denny Stadium are from Texas. Leafield also takes on client status by virtue of being a renter.

But in comparison to Tennessee, Alabama can only bring in recruits during documented visits. The athletes already on campus can visit the center by appointment.

The risk Alabama took in this is that by virtue of being on University of Alabama property, Federal recruitment laws kick in and Alabama would assume some liability for any EEO or breach of contract disputes.

In other words... Alabama screwed up big time, because as Saban pointed out, it has more downside implications than benefits.

Wrong.

A booster can donate to different universities, BY DEFINITION.
