Love the optimism!!!
To be perfectly clear, I am 100% pulling for CKD to kick butt and take names!. I hope he’s our head coach for 20+ years and that we are all crying when he eventually retires with a stack of NC’s and at least two statues on campus!!!!. I really do hope that’s what happens.
But the utter lack of respect for the greatest coach to ever coach the game is disappointing.
That garbage team of trash players and second-rate assistant coaches went 12-2; won the SEC-W, won the Conference title; beat the 2-time defending NC (and odds-on Favorite to 3-peat); and took the eventual NC (who routed UW) to Overtime, and almost certainly would have won the game outright with even an “average” performance at Center and QB.
Basically, you are predicting that our first year Head Coach with Zero SEC experience is going to do BETTER than a team that arguably was the second best (#2) in all of FBS last year.
So for you to be right, Alabama has to AT LEAST play in the Title game next January.
I hope you are RIGHT!!!

So let's a take vote here then. If Alabama goes let's say 8-4 first year. Are you happy or sad? It's better than saban did in his first year. But all I'm seeing is you have upgraded in every category on the coaching staff, except for head coach. So there is no reason to win less than 10 games. Right? Anything less than 10 wins is a failure season. Is this consensus of the board?
Also, you can ask tidesaint. He got me back into the board. I got banned for saying when Texas and Alabama played, that mallik Murphy would be playing the part of Jalen milroe, so there wouldn't be much difference of the style of player than those two. A bunch of people RA'd me and I got the boot. That's all I said. So yes I got banned for absolutely no reason.

I can't speak for the board as a whole, but in my opinion, there's just too much uncertainty around the team to really know what to expect.
In theory, having a returning QB would be a huge positive. In reality, Milroe has looked fantastic, and also has looked like a deer in the headlights -- sometimes in the same game (or, heck, even in the same drive). And with a completely new offensive system, we have no idea how he'll respond. So experience at QB is essentially nullified.
We're pretty darn good on the DL and LB, but replacing our entire secondary raises a huge question. We've got some experience, and some young talented players, but with essentially no continuity from a coaching or playing standpoint, there's no way to know how we'll respond.
Overall, offensively, I have hopes we'll be better, simply because of DeBoer's background and experience. But my hope is tempered by his lack of exposure to SEC-level defenses on a regular basis. How will he and his system handle the week-in / week-out grind of the SEC?
If you put a gun to my head, I'd say we COULD win 10 games in 2024, but I don't really expect it. I would be disappointed if we weren't in the 12-team playoff, but I wouldn't be completely shocked.

How am I shite stirring? By asking a question is shite stirring? Some of you people need to grow thicker skin. I guess I'm just too old school. You can't say anything to anyone with quote shite stirring. That's crazy.

I am not in favor of having opposing fans on a team board. You have no business here to start with, The Rant is where you belong, or a Texas board.
Alabama Board should be for Bama fans ONLY, and YOU arent one.

Look buddy. You can put that picture up all you want too. It has no bearing on me, because I am not soft like the basketball coach. He’s charmin. Has no business being our coach. We lost a great bball coach to ole miss, I wish he was still here.
But anyways yes the mods could ban me. It’s their decision. I wouldn’t like it but alas, they have that power. But all I’m doing is simply asking a question. I’m genuinely curious of what the consensus of the bama fan base thinks that bama won’t skip a beat or will there be growing pains. Give me your opinions.

First year I’d be “content” with 8-4. We’ve been close to losing 4-5 games the past few years as it is, and that was with the guy most people consider to be the best to ever do it
3-4 losses in year 1 is fine.
1-2 loss season and a playoff berth would be great.
Making the championship seems like a long shot relative to other seasons…but if it happens grab the popcorn because a lot of opposing fans are gonna melt HARD

You can ask questions without being condescending. At the end of the day you’re on another team’s board. Be mature, keep it respectful

I think 9-3 or 8-4 is realistic this year. Like other posters have pointed out, there are a lot of unknowns right now to expect a 10+ win regular season. On top of that the schedule this year is absolutely brutal. We could be a better team this year than last but a worse record and it wouldn't surprise me.
My expectations that will make me happy compared to previous years are as follows:
-Less bonehead penalties (15 yard personal fouls)
-More consistent offensive playcalling
-Not having a LBer on a slot receiver (or at least have our more athletic LBer on one if we have to)
-IF we have a big lead in the 3rd, start subbing in more backups so they get experience
-Not treat timeouts like it's a TECH stock holding it expecting to make more. Use it if needed
