You guys are being crazy optimistic at this point.

New offensive and defensive systems, with basically all new starters on the majority of the team.

Next year is a transition year. If he goes 9-3, that would be an amazing job

That’s a realistic attitude but there are people on this forum who will fight you that his job should be in jeopardy if he isn’t in “The Dance: Football Version.”

If it was a regular schedule with divisions, it would be a lot easier. The problem is that the SEC office clearly prioritized a bunch of marquee matchups for its standard bearer, Alabama, and its recent darling, Georgia. Those two teams have brutal schedules.

Meanwhile they want to ensure a smooth onboarding process for new breadwinner Texas, so they gave them one ranked conference game outside of their required tie with Oklahoma.

Byrne also did DeBoer no favors because moving forward Alabama will have two major out of conference opponents every season, the only team in America doing that.

Washington was 4-8 the year before DeBoer took over, they won 11 games with the same players plus Penix the next season. We would have to lose a lot more players before our talent level is down where Washington was

I think it all depends on who he pulls from the portal especially if we can pull some of those guys he had at UW.

At UW he did not inherit a great roster and getting hired late he was only able to bring in the 80th ranked class. Last year his class was ranked 27th. He was able to pull guys from the portal that were 3 or 4 star recruits coming out of HS. Yes he had Penix but in the trenches his team played well. With what will stay at UA and again whatever he brings in I could easily see UA getting into the playoffs.
