Missouri Fans: What Was Your Opinion of Kirby Moore?

Was he the primary play caller or did everything run through Drink? What was your overall opinion of him? How is he as a recruiter?
Just want some perspective in case LSU decides they want to take him as well.

Kirby more or less just took the game day play calling out of Drink’s hands. That’s really all anyone knows. For better or worse, that is a necessity with all that coaches have on their plates now. I don’t think you’d see a Baker level melt just because nobody knows what he contributes and Drink could coach up a new OC much easier than a new DC/Dline.

That boy looks like he traded his lunch pail for a garbage pail.

Ya the Baker thing hurt. Regardless of how good he was, he is very difficult for us to replace. The perplexing thing is that he is still a big unknown and may be a poor fit in the LSU scheme but is the highest paid in the land now.
Your defensive stats are going to be much better no matter what but a lot of that will be because of a down offense. There will be a lot less trading of points for minutes and other defensive strategies that make D look worse than it really is.

If you want to say our scheme was poor tackling and constant busted coverages, sure. Baker isn’t a fit for that crap.
Our defense wasn’t bad because of our offense. The defense was just flat out bad. It’s nothing like 2019 when our defense was actually good, but victim of its own offense that scored so quickly, the TOP was so lop sided against the defense that the opponent offense had much more chances to put up points.
If Baker takes this defense and puts them in the top 60, he’s assistant coach of the year.

You pathetically overpaid for the #33 DC and a dime a dozen edge coach. Congrats.
You clowns can’t stop thinking about Mizzou because it chaps your arse Mizzou is better.

You’ve been obsessing over LSU since we decided we were going to bully your entire poor institution. Mizzou is gay and should go back to the Big 12 where they can actually compete financially.
Sorry that we had to take the guys who were responsible for your dorky head coach going over .500 for the first time in 4 years though, back to the cellar for mighty Mizzou.

If only it could have been settled on the field last year when Mizzou had a top 5 Team in program history and LSU didn’t have one of their Top 10 teams of the 21st Century. Hell would have been fun to see it in Columbia, Missouri.

Kirby saved Drink’s job singlehandedly. I’m honestly surprised someone hasn’t tried to hire him yet.

That didn’t happen. Baker had more value because he was a good fit and is very hard to replace. Kirby could be replaced much more easily as drink could get a replacement up to speed quickly while our new DC will have to recreate the whole D from scratch.

That’s more what I was asking. I feel LSU is in the same boat. No matter who we hire they will be running Brian Kelly’s Offense.

LSU gave Baker $200k more than Mizzou offered

Had he stayed at Mizzou, y’all would’ve been “overpaying” too.

If only LSU had played Missouri this past season, then we would know.

Congrats LSU gave him $200k more than Mizzou offered
Also if we had the #33 Defense we roll to a 15-0 Natty with 2019 level dominance. The offense was THAT good.

It’s like you forget Drink was a .500 coach before Kirby. It wasn’t Drink that took your offense from 83rd to 29th. You don’t win 11 games in the SEC with a good defense and another 83rd ranked offense.

6-7 two years in a row. They're better

One good year in 10 years and Mizzou is elite

He was the play caller but the coaches collaborate. I think Kirby is a future head coach. He came up with some clutch play calls throughout the year. Brady Cook was healthier this year but Kirby is a big reason why Cook was successful.
