Of current coaches, Dabo has the best resume of anyone and only Kirby is in the same category.
He's won 2 NCs with two different QBs.
If he agrees to hire a portal/NIL coordinator, I'd have no problem with the hire. If he can recruit to Clemson, he'd keep Bama in the top 5-6 classes annually. I don't give a shite about personality if they win. Saban wasn't exactly fuzzy bear. For our fans to be so opposed to a 2x NC winning native son is bizarre. Yeah, his schtick is eye rolling at times, but just look at the resume. He isn't some 1 season wonder...he was the coach of the program that most rivaled the Saban Dynasty. All this "he's not on the NIL bandwagon" BS can be resolved if he really wants the job. He's already Clemson's greatest coach ever...no doubt he'd like to come home and win a NC at UA. The negativity is just flat out stupid.

The problem with Dabo is he seems philosophically opposed to material realities. You can get him verbally to say the things you think he needs to do on that front, but can you get him to zealously work beside collective and in the portal in practice?

Prob the same thing A&M fans said about Jimbo. I'd rather have a coach that is on the way up instead of on the way out.

He won't though. If he was open to utilizing NIL and the portal he would have started to this season after it became obvious that they needed some immediate help at several different positions. But he didn't, because it's not part of his program's identity. You'd be asking him to run a completely different program than the one you are using his success at to justify the hire.

Why hasn't Dabo already embraced the NIL and portal world? No thanks. He hasn't shown a willingness to put in the work in this world of college football to be highly successful. If this was 2018, I'd be on board. But not in 2024.

Not many coaches have won national titles at multiple schools. It is more likely you're buying the peak than making a sound investment.

I'm not sure which of the candidates has a good personality. Dabo is a redneck, Kiffin is a complete POS on every level, Norvell seems like a weepy bitch and is my least favorite of all the options due to his embarrassing antics last month. DeBoer probably has the most agreeable personality, just seems pretty quiet.

But that's in the ACC. That's been the weakest power conference for years.

Not on board, but i'll support whoever we get because the reality is NO one is going to do what Saban did. And we gotta get used to that reality as fast as possible and TOTALLY recalibrate how we judge our future pilots.
