So Saban's first order of business was to tell the boosters to frick off and enjoy the wins on Saturday. How long before they get back into the inner workings of the program and screw everything up?

This seems to be a problem at a lot of programs. A&M and Auburn come to mind. Kiffin did what Saban did at Ole Miss. Pissed off some folks early but winning cures all.

But the Bama big shots are now about to get back in the game.

Dealing with Boosters is a part of coaching now for everyone.

Can’t tell boosters to go away then ask them for millions of NIL dollars.

That is exactly what Saban did.

Bama fans don't want to accept the fact that things are about to get completely screwed up in Tuscaloosa again. Daddy Nick is no longer there to keep the cancer away.

That is a fact.

The first thing Nick Saban did when he hit T-town was, tell Lee Roy Jordan and a bunch of big money meddlers to "sit down and STFU...I'm in charge now."

Saban and Kirby are probably the only two in coach that could do this right now.

Boosters have to be ready for it. They need a decade or more of sucking to listen to it. Right now they aren't ready for it. They want to be back in the inner workings. Bama is screwed.

Saban was in a position to do that and carried that weight. ONLY Kirby Smart could do that

Arkansas boosters would be glad to hold a clinic on that and invite the Bama boosters for a quick refresher so they can knock the rust off.

Leroy Jordan is a saint. I knew one of his truck drivers for his lumber company, and all the sudden one day I got a call, it was Leroy Jordan saying hello and telling me he was praying for my dad after Dad had had a stroke.

I told him I realized at that moment I was talking to a guy who played for both Bear Bryant and Tom Landry. Made my day, made my month!

What a great guy.

Sark is getting to that level. Kiffin can do it.

Don't think Kelly would put up with it either. There are other coaches out there that keep boosters at bay.

This is funny coming from a team who has let Phat Phil run every single part of their inner workings.

I don't believe a word of it. Jordan is too good a man to involve himself like that.

Harbaugh could probably pull it off, but that's where the list ends.

At the Auburn and A&M fans saying it can't be done.

Just the reality for anyone.

If someone comes in and has high success pretty early they'll have more credibility to do it. And not simply because money guys want to win above all else, they know that they'll lose position with the masses (for which winning is above all else) if they stand in the way of it. If the new guy doesn't, well, you know how it'll go.

It's definitely a vacuum that people with money and influence are going to try and fill. I'm guessing for a lot of those guys the perfect outcome isn't just titles, it's titles where they have fingerprints on the program and decisions. That's not an Alabama or even CFB thing, that's an every industry/game/etc. thing.

No one is going to have the success Saban had. Let's just get that out of the way.

But the Alabama boosters have been pounding sand/kicking rocks/playing in traffic for the last 17 years. Are there any boosters left that actually know how to interfere with a football program? Look at all the changes in CFB in the last 17 years.

I'd bet they hire DeBoer or Norvell, and either will have some success, but obviously not on Saban's level. Maybe eventually the boosters grow restless and take back over the program but it isn't going to be immediately.
