Notre Dame hasn't even won a major bowl game in 30 years.
Wasn't Kelly the coach of ND for half of those years?

That's a great indicator of the ceiling they have in the modern era.
Maybe. Maybe not. I mean until recently Georgia's ceiling was pretty fixed and so was Clemson's.
But you sidestepped my question. Do titles have an expiration date and does LSU still count 1958?

Honest question so we can move on. Has ND been on LSU’s level over the past 25 years?
What level would that be? Have they won National Championships? No. But they have played for them. And lest you forget....Kelly was the coach at ND during the time frame you set. So, I guess the answer is no. ND has not been on the same level as LSU while Kelly was their coach.
Look. I am not setting the parameters. Y'all are.

No, closer to a third

Notre Dame wasn't doing it before Kelly and they haven't done it after him either.

You didn't ask me this question but regardless, yes titles still count but it's clear that Notre Dame isn't the contender that they once were. They've fallen behind in a lot of ways.

You do realize he took over a program with 39 scholarship players on the roster. Oh and BTW, got to the SECCG in his first year.

You can just ignore or not read it

If winning natties and then having a couple of down years will get you fired at LSU Grinding Brian is safe. He will never come close to a Natty. At LSU or anyplace else

And we all remember how that 3 loss LSU team did against UGA. Georgia laid 50 on them before Kirby called off the Dawgs. Very charitable of him

Kelly is now asserting his will... scary for rest of the league.
I was already terrified..... At his grinding on HS kids. What's he doing now... That's the really scary thought
But good news LSU... It looks like he's going to leave the cupboard stocked

Ok. A third. He averages around 3-4 losses a year whether at LSU or at ND. Seems like Brian Kelly has more of a ceiling than ND.
quote:Yet Brian Kelly has been unable to win a major bowl game, either, hasn't he?
I mean those teams still managed to win major bowl games.
quote:Makes you wonder how they became a Blueblood if they could not do it before Brian Kelly.
Notre Dame wasn't doing it before Kelly and they haven't done it after him either.
quote:True. But you inserted yourself into the conversation, did you not? I really don't have time to go back and check every post an LSU fan makes and then repeat every question so every single LSU fan can ignore it.

quote:Well, that's not true. Contender?
it's clear that Notre Dame isn't the contender that they once were.
Since 2018 ND has made the playoffs twice (2018, 2020), which is more than LSU has in that time frame. No doubt LSU makes better use of their opportunities when they make the playoffs, and that is great by me. I really don't like ND at all.

Actually he just got his 7th 10 win season in a row.

This is actually interesting. I had never thought of it this way. In Ed Orgeron’s last 5 seasons he went:
9-4
10-3
15-0
5-5
6-6
That is a record of 45-18. If you remove 2020, which LSU fans say doesn’t count at all and should be ignored, his record was 40-13. That is a 75% winning percentage. That is damn good. Right on par with Brian Kelly’s 74% winning percentage at LSU.
Even if you count 2020 coach O still had a 71% winning percentage. Still way better than LSU’s all time win percentage of 61%.
Did coach O get fired for going 15-0 and building unreasonable expectations? Sure looks like that from the outside looking in.
