@ Wisconsin (improved) - year 2 Fickell; will be improved. Outlook 8-9 wins.

Georgia (improved) - Key pieces return. Talent everywhere. Outlook: Minimum 10 wins.

@Tennessee (improved) - better QB play, maybe slight regression on D. Similar outlook leaning towards improvement; very tough in Knoxville. Outlook: 8-9 wins.

Mizzou (similar) - return key players from 11-2 squad. Pre-season Top 10. They are good. Outlook: 9-10 wins.

@LSU (similar) - year 3 Kelly; better on D, slight regression on O. Nussmeier 31-45 for 395 in the bowl (assuming he's the heir). They will be good, and tough in BR. Outlook: 9-10 wins.

@Oklahoma (similar) - year 3 Venables; Jackson Arnold taking over at QB, struggled against Arizona. But OU will be good; tough in Norman. Outlook: 8 wins.

Auburn (improved) - Year 2 Freeze they'll be slightly better. Outlook: 7-8 wins.

That is a rather brutal slate. Yes, we'll be favored in most of those games, but those are all I would say "good" team teams (assuming Auburn makes progress in year 2).

For Bama, the defense will be about the same as it was this year, maybe slightly improved. The running game should be improved and more explosive. Receivers probably slightly improved.

But Milroe's progress this Spring will dictate what kind of season we have next year. If he's a similar player to the player he was this year we are in trouble (imo). Most of those teams will be similar or improved next year, and Alabama's progression from 2023 to 2024 imo is directly tied to Milroe's progression as a QB.

Auburn’s in Bryant Denny. Wouldn’t list that game as a tough one as of now with their QB situation. I need to see more of them in year 2 before I consider that game difficult.

If this year taught us anything, it’s that we will rise and fall with OL play.

Wouldn't you say that is every year?

That and playcalling for me are the most important factors. Then our QB

It'll be a tough game. First and foremost, it is Auburn. The boogs live and die by beating Bama. They will blow their wad in order to win that game.

Secondly with the new schedule/format. We go to Oklahoma the week before we play them. That ain't easy. Auburn will play aTm at home. While aTm is no push over, it is a hell of a lot easier than going on the road to Oklahoma.

It's quite possible that Ty Simpson ends up winning the job before the season starts. I don't think he stays if he wasn't given assurances that he has a chance at starting next year.

I’m excited for the defense. I’m not a huge Kevin Steele guy but there’s a good slew of talent there and I can’t see it being worse. It had some flaws and a tendency to just get ripped on a single drive (I really feel we should be using timeouts mid drive to reset when it’s clear that’s happening) but overall it was relatively lockdown and the run defense was elite.

God I wish Pruitt wasn’t banned for a decade

Alabama has a tough schedule that starts reasonably soft. The offense needs to be a solved problem early...there is no place in the schedule to "figure it out on the fly" like 2023.

Do you think Saban is going to come right out and say no, I don't think you will start next year? He tells him exactly what he wants to hear to keep him at Bama! Plus side is that there will be a qb battle of more than 2 guys and Milroe has the edge (going in) simply because of experience. I wouldn't rest easy on Ty staying until the Spring portal days are over. Ty just looks like a natural back there but there's far more to it than looking the part. I'm pretty sure Saban still wants to win so let's just all trust the process....

It’s a pretty brutal schedule but there needs to be improvement across the board, not just Milroe.

Yes, Milroe needs to have better sense of the pocket (esp how much time he has) but Mother of God, I’m so tired of seeing the o line getting whipped.

WRs need to do a better job getting open and BLOCKING (they’re terrible at blocking).

Auburn doesn't play that great in BDS.

Last 6 games in BDS:
Bama 49-27
Bama 42-13
Bama 52-21
Bama 30-12
Bama 55-44
Bama 49-0

Alabama has only lost to Auburn once in Tuscaloosa since 2008 and we all know which game we lost and I won’t even mention it. But the home field advantage is so big in that rivalry.

Alabama will massacre Auburn in BDS just like they have since 2012.

Auburn is a awful road team against good teams.
