when both are locks for a playoff spot next year . Same for other conferences. Will opt outs be allowed. Will starters be held out , lesser effort given, etc?

Let's get the basics down first: there are no more divisions.

Winning the conference will still matter much more than winning a non NY6 bowl game. It will also matter for seeding in the playoffs and having an easier road.

opt outs
Yes
It will be a meaningless game .

What geauxnavybeat bama said: could be difference between a first-round bye and home field in first round.

There are no more divisions, but this is a good point
CCGs wont mean much going forward when both teams are locks for the playoffs.
Add to that the obscure tie breakers to determine participants in 16 team conference with no divisions. 2 or 3 7-1 or 6-2 teams tied for 2nd place, little to no head to head or common opponents. Then the team that gets left out wont care because they go straight to playoffs. Doesn't make for a meaningful CCG Game

How does securing a bye and playing one less playoff game make it meaningless? This is beyond stupid.

Probably the SEC Championship.

if there are 3 7-1 teams in the SEC at the end of the season with no head to head between them reg season. It it really needed to pick 2 of them and have them play an extra game while the team that "loses" the tiebreak goes straights to playoff.
Its more likley a team could lose homefield advantage because of the CCG. Imagine either #7 or #8 in nations will play #1 in Nation in CCG, would if you are 7/8 would you rather play CCG and likley lose a few seeds and give up homefield, or let the other team go to GGC and go straight to first round playoffs at home?

UGA or Bama would be a hard fought game but Liberty is basically a bye. Why risk injury in a war to win a bye when you get a basically a bye anyway?
Rest ur starters for the playoffs and use the first round game as a tune up game for the semis and finals

THis is why they made Conf champs get auto bids. TV money from Conf Champ games still gets made.
I assume conf champs get highest seeds? Somebody correct me.

You are assuming the loser of the SEC title game is the #5 seed playing the 12th seed G5 team. That is not a given, the BIG10 runner up could just as easy be the 5 seed or lets say three BIG10 teams finish 11-1, the the one that misses the title game gets 5 seed and the loser at 11-2 gets 6th seed. The SEC runner up could fall to 7 and have to play a 10th seed.
The new BIG10 is going to have some credibility going into 2024 as the Title game this year is a new all Big10 Championship game.

Or, you end up playing Oregon, Ohio State, etc.
You play for what you know, and that's a first round bye.
