So what went wrong on offense this evening?

At halftime, Alabama made a couple of very basic adjustments. It only took about 3 series for the UM DC to slow those adjustments down. But what was the bigger issue?
Without doing in-depth film study, I saw two things we were not able to adjust around and unless those are fixed this offseason we will see those issues again.
UM did not spy the QB. Instead they ran a shallow/tight zone. It was largely a shallow version of the Tampa Two. Milroe and the WR's were running/throwing man routes against zone coverage. The WR's never adjusted to sitting down in zone holes. The holes were about 15 to 17 yards deep and between the hashes.
Because of the zone, UM was able to also run multiple versions of high/low blitzes and stunts at both OT's. The Alabama offense did a poor job of chipping/helping the OT's who were having to choose which of the two guys to block or reaching for one just before the stun came to the area they just vacated.
Both of those issues are on the OC and the QB. Pass routes to the outside and deep were covered for at least 5 to 8 seconds. A really good push up the middle by the UM DL (#55) destroyed our center and killed the ability for Milroe to step forward in the pocket.Milroe never figured out how to adjust blocking/pllays to deal with the high/low abuse of our OT's. The high/lows meant the Milroe had to get rid of the ball quiclkly and over the middle (intermediate routes (his greatest weakness).
The QB was not capable of reading/adjusting to the rush and he was never able to adjust his coverage reads to handle a zone that was forcing him to throw over the middle.
Alabama won the 3rd quarter but lost the other 3 quarters and overtime.

You took 7 paragraphs.
I'll say it in one word.

QB with no vision.
Oc with no ability to adapt to what's going on in the game.
OL that apparently never got on the bus.
The defense I thought played average. Michigan is not that good of a team and we made them look much better. Our offense made the defense get gassed.

Seth and Milroe have been erratic all season. Yet, if someone calls Milroe out, you’re labeled a hater.

They were daring us to methodically drive the field using short and intermediate throws, which was a solid strategy due to our penchant for drive-killing snaps, penalties, and sacks.

Maybe run the ball more? Also, since we have a center that snaps knuckle balls on the regular, maybe try working with some basic running plays under center? Or trying out a new center? A couple tunnel screens or running back screens might’ve been effective in the first half. I don’t know, anything might’ve worked better than consistently snapping the ball in shotgun and trying to pass over and over when Michigan was bringing 5 and 6 rushers every play.

Maybe. But really remarkable that we have an OC who didn’t even seem to be able to recognize it, much less attack it.

The shallow zone means that slants are not a good option until they get about 15 yards down the field (and over the middle. Milroe's no-go zone.

Just in general all year it felt like we never threw them. They used to be a huge part of our offense.

The offense has not been good all year. We were lucky to make the playoffs with this offense. Michigan did catch our defense flat footed about 6 or 7 times. May have been the play calling on their part.

DA #19 keep running out the kickoffs only to get stopped at the 15
Why in the hell didn't tell them not to attempt to run back the kickoffs.
take the 25 and save the yards.

If a slant is not out very quickly and thrown very accurately it is a pick-6 waiting to happen.

We are playing in the final game without the bad snaps

Probably because he knew Rees dumbass didnt design one play for him, and he wanted to contribute ?

And Milroe (who by the way, has grown on me a lot and is obviously a freak of an athlete) simply can not make short to medium throws. I’m also not sure how quickly he reads his receivers. When Auburn started to tee off in him, it really showed up. He sort of had the same problem against Texas, A&M, Arkansas, Georgia to an extent, and tonight.
