Teams like Alabama and Georgia generally lose players who see no chance of starting (with some exceptions of course) which frees up spots on the 85 limit. They can also pick up a guy or two from the portal to fill a specific need. Lesser teams lose really good players who want to go to a potential championship winner. I would rather not have the portal but the idea that it hurts Bama or UGA is silly.

Show us your player turnover rate compared to previous years, dumb arse.

Higher turnover isn't really a bad thing for a team like Bama, UGA or OSU that is always in the top 5 of recruiting.

Bama invented "the process" which was to try to rotate underperforming players out so those spots can be filled with new recruits. The transfer portal, at least when the guys leaving are mostly reserves, makes that easier.

While UGA and Bama occasionally lose guys they really would rather not lose to the transfer portal, those tend to be the exceptions. Most of the guys entering are players who aren't in the starting line up. Losing players like that simply opens the scholarship spots for highly rated recruits who have a shot to hit as players. If they do they likely stay at their school. If they don't they'll likely transfer out and a new set of highly rated recruits come in.

It's not the negative you think it is most of the time.

No shite!

The door to the transfer portal opened October 2018, NIL commenced July 2021. This quite literally IS the check-in thread.

The fact that it took some schools all this time to recognize and organize a system to properly manage both is comical.

FYI, it’s 2023, and the lead is 8. Maybe you meant to post this in 2015?

It's even more than that... Ryland Goede was told point blank by Monken to transfer because he'd never see the field. This is according to Ryland on one of his final podcasts with Tate Ratledge. He was straight up told to hit the bricks.

It literally is processing. UGA still has about 14 spots they need to free up based on today's 28 signees, so expect to see bullshite headlines "UGA is bleeding in the portal!" in the coming days.

Basically the equivalent of sloppy seconds for everyone not named Bama or UGA.

It's curtains for Saban and his evil offspring Kirby! Now that everyone can pay players, it's an even playing field! [checks notes] 2024 Class: #1 UGA #2 Alabama STDDB

What a convincing argument completely ignoring the portal and NIL and the eventual leveling of the field they will bring over time. And Saban the brand name still draws a lot of recruits. He won't be there much longer.

Maybe Freeze should have learned how to play video games. I mean, y'all offered him money too, didn't you? If not....

Now, I know you will want to argue about 1942, but we were consensus champions. In 1957, Auburn was on probation so, if you want to try to take away 1942, we take away 1957. How do you win a title when you are on probation for paying players?

Not to mention we are expected to sign 6-7 from the portal. Some on here try to act like the portal is a one way street.

Ask Bama.

Of course, we both know that you meant to say "How do you win a title when you got caught paying players"?

Explain how pathetic Nebraska is suddenly landing the top high school QB. Money, money, money. Pedigree is a distant 2nd for many kids now, and some see themselves as agents of change for today's top programs' rivals. Witness the sudden revival of Texas to top tier after nearly 20 years down the ladder.

His dad is a former Nebraska player and his uncle is a coach there.

ETA- Dylan Raiola was going to go wherever he damn well pleased and was going to get paid whatever the going rate is. He decided he wanted to be a big fish in a small pond, along with family connections, so went Nebraska. We'll see how long he stays there. He went to four different high schools in four years and this is his 3rd college commitment. This recruit's story says little to nothing about NIL.

Posts something that has nothing to do with what other people are talking about. Proceeds to call them "dip shite". I love sidewalk alumni.
