Expansion Talk

But...
After reading this article Athletic Subscription it looked like the BIG Ten payout would be around 62-75 million per school before Oregon and Washington announced they would leave. Lots of people were projecting 80-100M but this article points out they weren't factoring in FOX's cut in the BIGten network. So adding on Washington and Oregon I'd guess each school payout would still be around the same figure. Maybe slightly more? So we'll say (65M-78M) for TV.
The SEC had a payout of in 533 million in non cbs revenue in 2021 aka the money made from the SEC network. If we add on the new 300M per year contract with ESPN for game of the week that total comes to 833M per year or 59.5 per school per year. Adding in Texas and OU I would expect would increase this number to about 65ish million per school? Right?
With all that said the BIG TEN does look like they will be making around 10 million more based on what I am seeing which is a pretty big deal. They will probably have first pick at adding a NC, CLemson, FSU, or Notre Dame (if they ever join). Am i missing something or is the SEC slightly losing the expansion battle? With NIL becoming more of a factor this seems dangerous to me. Just some thoughts...

No one indicated I needed to learn math

ESPN/SEC will move to a subscription based model and blow the liner model the BIG has out of the water. I'm excited to pay one price and see all of our games.

New Division coming for CFB, if the players are willing to unionize and take a pay cut
New Paid Tier for CFB
If this happens, I hope A&M decides to leave the SEC and compete at a lower level. I want no part of this ... to be honest, I wish we'd leave now.

Why are you against the labor force getting a cut of their earnings? It's not your money.

I hate what CFB has become, and you are right about one thing. I stopped all donations to A&M and will never give another dime of my money. I could take a few multiple-week vacations a year instead ...
And will do so

Big Ten absolutely blew the SEC out of the water with the TV deal, but who wins expansion remains to be seen.
SEC will still have the better programs and way more of them.

I haven't checked your numbers, but I will caution you that it's a moving target, as the SEC's numbers under the existing contracts do go up somewhat over time. The contract apparently included a pro rata to clause to ensure that adding teams to the conference would result in compensation paid increasing enough that existing schools would not see their payments go down if new schools were added (and that new schools would be paid at the same rate).

Big 10 schools are going to waste those few extra million on travel costs. The conference used to want contiguous states, but are a mess now.

The only way to continue to follow both letters of the law is to continue the free-for-all that we currently have in place. Communism will not have a place in this.

What I dislike is they put all their eggs under the ESPN umbrellla. They should have spun off packages of games, one to an OTA network (CBS/NBC/Fox) and another possible streaming option.
It's about getting networks to bid against each other to maximize dollars and the SEC has the best product.

They had to put all their eggs under ESPN. It was the only way they could get Texas into the league. And Disney wouldn't do a thing without their burnt orange masters.

When does OK and UT pay their membership dues or have they already?

I'd leave tomorrow to get away from your worthless asses. However, it isn't my decision. Soon enough the SEC will realize what a mistake the steers were
And I will be sitting in a foreign country on vacation laughing my arse off.

I am curious as to what the expense report will be comparatively for the two conferences. Traveling across the entire country to four of the schools in conference has to be pricey. Especially for sports outside of football.

I believe a lot of the cost is coming out of their payouts in 2024 and 2025. Guessing the SEC is footing the bill for now? This is a guess as I am too lazy to look it up

FSU is a natural for the SEC.

I think North Carolina is the best remaining school behind only ND.

I'd vote for FSU simply to screw over the southeast teams that would be against it.
