No way in hell can an argument of any type, shape, or form be made that Michigan should be #1.
I know if you beat the #1 team, it doesn't make you the #1 team but, Michigan is not better than Alabama by any stretch of the imagination.
It's like they put Alabama at #4 to kind of insult the team and the fans both, a kind of kick to the head for jollies.
Alabama should be #1 and everyone knows it. It's a bit of that old hatred of Southerners raising its old, decrepit head again. Frankly, it's the same type of attitude that prevented Alabama from claiming its rightful 3-Peat in '66.

Forgetting that 1% chance to beat a poor AU team? Or the fumbled punt giving bama another gift TD? "Lucky" seems to be a more definitive word than "earned".

Was that before or after you won a title, lost the bowl game, and the wire service changed their procedure to make sure it doesn’t happen again?
And was it before or after you did it again prompting the other wire service to change?
Hard to agree that Bama ever got screwed after that happened twice.

I seem to remember a post by you last night, I think, that was resoundingly negative at even the slightest bit of a chance of Alabama being top 4.

I may be forgetting… but I’m pretty sure there’s a team in the playoffs that beat Alabama.

Yeah, but there is no way Texas should be #1. They have actually seemed to degenerate as the season progressed, rather than improving.
Everything will work out in the final computations though, as Bama will likely be playing Texas again.

If you are going to be a historian, it would behoove you to know history. None of the instances you mention happened in '66.
Sure, Alabama has forced change in many different areas of college football over the years, not just the polls, but the actual rules of the game also.
Again, though, nothing you allude to has anything whatsoever to do with 1966.
It wasn't Bama's fault that they kept winning NC's by the very rules that were in place at the time. They just played to win. If the wire services couldn't decide how they wanted to proceed, and they couldn't, that wasn't Bama's concern.
All I personally know about is that they just kept giving Bama NC trophies and then changing rules. Good for them.

I hardly think the fan of a team that struggled with Houston, TCU, and Iowa State can cast aspersions at Alabama fans.
I mean, Texas must have gotten better also to be sitting at #3, correct? Not quite the improvement Alabama has made though, to be able to smother the #1 team and disrupt their game-plan to the extent that they seemed little better than, ummm, auburn.

I do seem to remember you saying Texas “degenerated”. It’s hard to say that when Bama squeaked by Auburn 2 weeks ago when Texas won by 50. Both teams are good. But no, Bama does not deserve to be #1.

do u even watch the game i remember Bama needing a miracle to beat a 4 win team. Texas won by like 70 points last 2 games.
