4th and 31 was a jaw dropping play dont get me wrong, but it's almost impossible for any play to beat the kick six.

Bama and Auburn is the biggest rivalry in the south and maybe the country. Game is tied with a chance at the national championship and one of the lowest percentage plays ends the game.

it can't be out done.

Beating a 6-6 auburn team that got blown out by NMSU won't be remembered once the shine wears off.

2013 had SEC West, SEC Championship, National Championship in the Rose Bowl, and three peat implications.

Ya, the kick six was akin to the bluegrass meltdown. Fourth and 31 was crazy, but now as much.

Wait did LSU win it that year or the following?

If the following, nvm.

The stakes were much higher in the Kick Six for sure because both teams were in title contention.

Bama losing the kick six made them miss out on a potential 3peat. Auburn losing this basically just denied them a chance to ruin Bama's season but in the grand scheme of things Auburn was going to some shitty bowl win or lose

I dunno... I still remember all those times Auburn kicked our asses when we were like 3-9 or 5-7.

Yea it was whatever. Just another step in the slow shift of the series from pre-Saban Auburn domination to Bama can't win in Auburn to Bama basically wins every year wherever it is (4 in a row, 8 of 10) - close in Auburn, by 1,000 in Tuscaloosa.

It was also a pretty fun way to win in your rivals stadium.

The big difference is Kick 6 was voodoo luck. 4th and 31 was flawless execution of practiced scenario.

It depends.

If, by some miracle, Alabama wins the national championship this year then 4th and 31 will be bigger because one led to an eventual national champion and the other to an eventual national runner-up.

In any other scenario, Kick 6 still reigns supreme.

It was also just an incredibly slow play to unfold. The fact it worked out is impressive, and the ramifications it has on keeping Bama in the hunt is what makes the Iron Bowl such a classic staple of CFB - quite possibly THE staple. But Alabama's QB had like eight and a half seconds in the pocket and was in no danger when he finally threw the pass. Compare that to the Kick Six, where Davis had to run it 110 yards past the whole Alabama team. It was exciting to watch from start to finish. Even Arkansas' 4th and 25 conversion to beat Ole Miss and keep them out of the SECCG in 2015 was infinitely more exciting than 4th and 31, with its completely blind and backwards lateral heave to convert after the play broke down.

I'm sure it will lose it's shine after a few years of Auburn kicking Dabo's arse at Alabama.

You will remember until your dying day. Your hope slowly built for 59+ minutes, only to be destroyed in excruciating fashion.

I'd also like to nominate 2012 Alabama vs. LSU as the better football moment. #1 Alabama vs. #5 LSU, at LSU. The revenge game for the 2011 BCSNG embarrassment. One minute flat on the clock, LSU is up 17–14, and McCarron finds Yeldon on a screen for a 28 yard TD.

More importantly, I think Georgia vs. LSU in the SECCG that year would have led to Georgia playing Notre Dame and being the 2012 National Champions. We could have been looking at a very different timeline for Mark Richt, and Kirby Smart likely going to somewhere like Texas, LSU, or Florida when one of those jobs opened next.

I swear, college football has to be one of the few places I will watch a fanbase GLEEFULLY talk about how much they suck when it comes to how close they came to beating a rival.

Just, for some reason, PROUD of how badly they suck.

There is not a single person on this board that wouldn’t celebrate and revere winning a game like that against a rival to keep playoff hopes alive

I also love all the "yeah, well, you beat us in the worst ten year stretch of our program's modern history/you beat us with the worst coach we ever hired."

No shite. And every time you beat us, we would have won if we scored more points and were better. There has to be one loser and one winner, funny how that works.

Our Chad Morris and Bret Bielema years count. We did that. We did that to ourselves. It's not indicative of Arkansas if we got our heads out of our asses and made some better hires, but we fricking sucked and we deserve to be made fun of.
