However this season ends its been refreshing to see a defense that plays to the Bama standard. They give up some yards and more points than I would prefer but they play with mean streak and seem to get a lot of stops when it really counts. That has been missing since Pruitt left.

They have the best D left in the top 10 and it ain't even close.

They are getting better. Arnold and Downs are getting better. Egboigbe is becoming a beast. Tim Keenan and Campbell are letting their nuts drop. All those guys are playing better every week.
We need Key, Malachi, Koolaid, and Dallas to stay healthy.
Id like to see some of the young edge rushers and some of the young DBs get some more work.

Defenses under Golding seemed to get worse as games went on. Always relenting scoring drives when we needed stops late in games.
This defense seems to be the opposite. Outside of the Texas game of course.

This defense has great talent and the right temperament. They seem to sometimes have a few problems with technical aspects of the game but overall the effort is there to clean up the mistakes and improve.

The only real problem I had with the D Saturday was the TD they gave up right before the half. Only needed to tackle the receiver short of the goaline for the clock to run out... and I forget who went for the INT. Wasn't smart football on that drive.

It was Kristian Story. He got greedy and mis played the ball, thinking he would get the INT instead of just making the tackle.

Yeah, I've been pretty impressed with our secondary: McKinstry, Arnold, Moore, Downs have been playing very well. There are much fewer busted coverages, and when they do happen... its usually because of a mismatch.
The DL is playing decent, and the LB play seems to be our weakest area (not bad, just weakest). I'm not a fan of Marshall... he seems way too slow. The younger Campbell seems to play much better than Marshall, so I can only assume that he just doesn't know the defense quite as well... or he would be starting.
But I have very high hopes for the future of our pass rush with the insane recruiting haul from last year.

Campbell has started the last few games. He’s better than Marshall and continues to look more comfortable out there with every game.

I may be thinking of the TN game, but Marshall got absolutely burned in coverage for a TD like 5 minutes into Q1

The throw and catch in the UT game in Q1 was perfect. Don't blame the LB on that one. Nobody could have defended it except by pass interference.

Lawson on the first big JD run tried to rush inside and JD went outside and gained about 35 yards. It looked like Lawson was just spying on the play and decided to rush for some reason. Lawson and Marshall also missed some key tackles.

Marshall whiffed on the tackle of JD at the 5 yard line. He saw the play developing read it correctly and just a step late getting there and then missed the tackle.
