Just read the Sports Illustrated piece about the Auburn victory .....He nodded about Auburn filling the stands ..Same writer had noted that opposing fans always seem to outnumber the Vandy faithful ......

So, that means that Vandy is expanding their stadium so that more opposing fans can come to the games?

Kind of what it seems like. I imagine it's mostly to 'keep up with the Joneses'

It was pointed out they don't have a huge alumni base and only 7-8K undergrads enrolled.

They are probably still in the SEC to bring up the IQ quotient of the league...

They’re getting SEC tv money. Gotta spend it somehow.

Is it an expansion? I thought it was more of a stadium upgrade.

It is actually reducing seating by approximately 7,000 seats when completed. They are adding new facilities during this construction phase. They will be adding suites, but overall capacity will shrink.

Yep, that's it. They say capacity will go down from 40,000 plus to 33,000 plus when completed. The current capacity during construction is 28,500.

Is 33K the minimum to be D!? There use to be number, but that was pre-Covid.

True Story Vandy tickets have always been dirt cheap.
Really weird because you could buy end zone seats for $99 season tickets. Now if you wanted individual games they were at regular price, so Auburn was like $60.

I bought 4 season tickets and used the Auburn tickets, so the Florida, Tennessee and the other 3 games. Seems like UMASS, wake Forest another SEC team...I made about $300 total and got my four for free.

They are trying to make to make it nicer to attract some of that new Nashville money that's been being spent the past few years.

Pretty much. They said their average attendance over like 10 years had been 31,200 or close to that. Yikes. Mostly thanks to visiting schools. Outside of the value of their degree, I am not sure how you get a recruit excited to attend when the opposing team’s fans are out numbering theirs and louder.

That's crazy, and genius.

The school’s decision on the type of student they are recruiting is not helping either.

Vandy no longer belongs in the SEC. Sad to say but true.

Is there a single team in the SEC that they have a historical winning record against?

Not us anymore! 22-21-1. Let's beat them again next year on the Plains.

I can tell you it was a cluster f getting in and out of the stadium Saturday. For a bunch of smart kids, their plan during renovations sucked. It definitely needs a remodel.

Looks like it’s gonna be a great looking stadium for Vandy that stadium has been a shite hole since the 90s. I’m happy for them. If I wouldn’t have gone to school to play baseball I was considering Auburn, GT, and Vandy. So always been sorta of a distant fan of Vandy
