Obviously Jayden Daniels has been pretty incredible this year and is basically LSU's entire team, but he won't be back for future seasons. What happens to the Tigers then? Brian Kelly has never been known for producing offensive juggernauts, and the LSU defense is, um, a bit lacking this year to say the least. And if you look at current 2024 recruiting rankings on a per-player basis, LSU is sitting 17th nationally, but that's only good for 9th among SEC (or soon-to-be SEC) schools. It doesn't look like there's a lot to be positive about regarding the future down on the bayou!

So a transfer portal QB in your opinion is what is holding LSU together and you bring up recruit rankings?

Bama will send Gayden Daniels to an early retirement on the 4th.

Cope, LDU fans.

Lol LSU is consistently one of the deepest teams by skill position every year. I think we'll be fine.

I guess we are stuck with that quarterback that threw for 294 yards and 2 TD's in one half against UGA in the SEC championship game last year.

Woe is us.

we return everyone on the offensive line, possibly every running back and we have very good weapons at receiver still. Nuss will be fine on offense and defense is young.

People on this site swore Jayden Daniels sucked before the season started and that Nussmeier was way better.

Now it's like LSU is going to crater when Daniels leaves.

They should be more worried about Sleepy Nick who they all wanted to put in a home at halftime last week.

The reality is that while having a great QB can lead a team to great things, relying on that alone leaves you vulnerable when that QB leaves.

When you base your team on defense and line play, you don't have the same ups and downs. While it's harder to get a national championship caliber team when you have solid QB play and great defense and lines (like UGA has done the past couple of seasons and Bama has done most of Saban's tenure), when you do you can handle slight misses at QB (not a total dud, but a less than stellar performer).

A great QB playing for another talented team can still beat you (like Trevor Lawrence and Deshaun Watson for Clemson or Joe Burrow for LSU winning titles), but you'll still be right there.

But it's not easy to recruit the other positions to the point that QB isn't as vital. Most teams need that stud at QB, which is why strings like Bama has had are rare.

I swear some of you either don’t watch the games or have no idea what you’re looking at

It’s clear he has been developed. Imagine same has been happening for Nuss.

Nuss told Saban to frick off, that’s why your starting QB lost to Texas, at home

The Nuss Bus!!! Class of 24 is far from over and don’t take a peek at what we will do in 25, you might cry. We could get the top WR, QB and RB in the country.

And, this is LSU. Athletes play elevate here. Just think about it, we only had 39 scholarship players going into last year and beat your arse. Don’t underestimate us ever.

Better hope LSU doesn't manage to flip the A&M trio. That would put LSU's class Top 5.

Also gunning for the #1 WR (committed), RB (heavy LSU lean), and QB (LSU/UM battle) in 2025.

But to answer the topic...

2024 - Nuss or transfer.
2025 - transfer, Freshman (if Underwood) or RS Freshman (Hurley if he can develop).

Jayden has been incredible for sure but the offensive line and Logan Diggs are also been really darn good. The entire Oline will be back next year with a talented stable of backs and big freak WRs and TEs as per usual at LSU. The offense obviously won't be as good as this season but the defense should be much improved with a very good defensive back class incoming as well as most everybody will be returning. Everybody is just glossing over the fact (LSU fans included) that we suddenly lost our best DB to a brain tumor and how that has impacted our defense.
