Our guys couldn’t walk and chew gum at the same time for most of the game. The refs did not lose this one.

We’ve been 5 seed quality all year. And I agree that we seem ripe for a 12 seed to pick off.

It’s ok. This is still an overachieving group.

They went 4-0 on the road in games they should have won. At Vandy, Ole Miss, LSU, and Georgia. Then get a road dub cherry on top by winning in Starkville against a decent Mississippi State team.

I’d be ecstatic to win the 5/12 matchup and then somehow find a way to shoot our way past the 4 seed to the Sweet 16. That’s our absolute ceiling.

But this is way better than living on the cusp of the bubble every year like we seemed to do so often during the back half of the Gottfried era. Or all of Avery’s tenure. Or the “good” years of Grant.

I’ll never be able to forget the abortion of offense that was Jimmie Taylor and/or Senario Hillman kicking it out to a smothered Charvez Davis/Tony Mitchell for a contested 3 at the buzzer of the shot clock.

We’re fine. Need serious defensive improvement going forward. And a new arena. Breaking news on both counts…
