I am not sure why every expected him to suddenly start winning 90% of his games.

It's the same reason for Bama fans thinking that Jermaine Burton would go from a 500 yard a year receiver at UGA to a thousand yard receiver at Bama.

People assume that if you reach a certain level of success with less resources (in the case of Burton, QB play and targets), you'd all of a sudden be a world beater with greater resources.

But sometimes a #2/#3 WR is just a #2/#3 WR regardless of who he plays for... and a 70% win percentage coach will win 70% of his games at a bigger and better school. Some people just are who they are.

How do LSU fans feel about Robert Steeples?

When nobody on defense can tackle or know where they should be or what their responsibilities are, that’s an indictment on every position coach in addition to the defensive coordinator and, ultimately, the head coach

LSU has become Auburn 2.0 so simply beating Bama and keeping them out of the playoffs will be enough to buy him 3-4 seasons.

He’s not going to compete for a national championship every year. He’s not Nick Saban or Kirby Smart. But he’s top 5 in the “best of the rest” category which is pretty damn good. I’m a little surprised how bad his defense is this year but I wouldn’t panic.

Saban, Miles, and O all won a championship at LSU. The one thing that all of those coaches could do was recruit. The only concern I have with Kelly is his ability to recruit. In his second year he’s lost the 1st and 3rd recruit in the state, both are defensive players fwiw.

TLDR; If Brian figures out the recruiting, I think he’ll be fine.

I think he's a Solid CFB Coach. Not Elite but Solid. Less than solid coaches have had success here and he probably will as well.

The problem is LSU is Paying for Elite not Solid.

There are still good coaches out there. Maybe some even need a second chance ?
