For years i have read about what a sham the end of the 92 game was but the end of 96 was so much worse and yet i rarely see it brought up. Auburn sacked the qb with like 15 seconds left and Georgia had no timeouts. The refs inexplicably stopped the clock to allow Georgia to clock the ball and throw the Hail Mary to tie the game. I'm so glad this didn't happen at the peak of my fandom, i would have ended up in jail

They stopped the clock bc they thought it was a fumble, right?

D Lineman picked up the ball and ran off with it. Watched it the other day.

I was at this game with my wife. I had just graduated and my brother was a special teams walk-on. So, he got us tickets in the parent section. We were sitting behind Takeo Spikes family. At some point during the game, one of them literally has a heart attack or some kind of event and had to be carried out of the game. The whole game was f'ing crazy.

Auburn has been a part of some of the most amazingly improbable college football games.

It was like watching a train wreck. Blew a 28-7 lead.

I didn't know about this game either. But this sentence here is why you're my hero.

I didn't notice that when i watched it, if so what an all time bonehead move by that lineman. They had no chance to get a play off

Never forget - frick uga

Worth a watch 1996 Georgia Bulldogs at #20 Auburn Tigers - Larry Munson's call and comments

It was the 100th meeting in the rivalry. 1st OT game I think. Bobo was QB. Vince didn't know what to do with himself, lol.

LM is a legend. Respect. But frick Georgia.

Eh, 92 was way worse. The Georgia dline basically just laid down on the ground and the refs let like 15 seconds run off the clock without even trying to set the ball up to snap. It was ridiculous.

In the 96 we played so pathetic in the second half we pretty much deserved to lose. Probably the second most pissed I've been watching us play in person, behind the arse beating we took from Penn St in the rain during the 95 bowl game. Both involving Tater Tot, go figure.

I just rewatched part of the 96 game. Bobo was QB and Kirby was playing DB.

Hines Ward was also tearing us up at WR. He went on to be an NFL HoF player.

Anyway, the refs obviously wanted to cover their betting lines. The stopping of the clock at the end was ridiculous. Even the UGA players thought game was over. I understand the refs hurrying to get the ball set just to be fair, but stopping the clock? Why? That's some shady shite.

At the same time, if you can't defend a 40 yard pass, then I guess you don't deserve to win.
