Something doesn't add up. A&M's overrated 5 stars got 7 sacks and 15 TFL.

On a discussion note, I’ll be honest, during the OC search, Phil Montgomery was a coach I thought we would end up before Bobby bc Phil has a lot of Texas connections. I also thought, Art Brile’s offenses were explosive under Montgomery with RG3. Long story short, I wonder what’s going on there at Auburn. Is Phil running his own offense similar to an Art Briles offense, or is Freeze in control there?

Even overrated 5 stars should beat a team that’s 11-14 the last 2 years.

Congrats

i think is Montgomery with Freeze interjecting in crucial drives. Basically a cluster frick with a Qb that plays with fear. Thorne is useless right now and isnt the answer we were hoping for.

He never was. Freeze said during the spring that we didn't have QB1 on campus.

Caught up on post game podcasts, it seems like some dudes are calling for Holden Geriner to start. That guy only had one series.

That’s why you should go back to not thinking.

I don’t think Thorne was the guy HF wanted. Mich St fans were right when they said he was below average and if he is below average in the Big 10, he was really going to suck in the SEC

The thinking is Thorne will not be the guy if he is a deer in headlights and Ashford has not shown that much improvement at all.

The problem is the qb is likely two get murdered over the course of the next two games anyway. No knock on A&M, but they are nowhere near GA and that is the next game.

It's pretty easy to see what's going on. We don't have very good outside receivers who can stretch the field and get open, so the defense plays man coverage and sends everybody else to the QB. You can call plays all day long but if your receivers aren't good enough to get open, it's gonna be a long day with a lot of sacks.

I have no problem with Phil Montgomery's scheme or calls. We just don't have the talent right now to execute it. There isn't an SEC quality QB or WR on the roster right now. We've got a great slot receiver and TE and our OL is decent, but that's not enough.

I saw a bunch of WRs wide open early in the game and Thorne just ate the ball on multiple 3 step drops. Montgomery knew we couldn’t pass block AM forever. At the start it looked like the plan was to get the ball out quick, but Thorne just held it too long.

I agree that Thorne needs to get rid of the ball earlier as well.

Auburn's QBs were so bad that I still have no idea what to think about our defense. If they were half decent, the score in the first half is much different.

If you go back and look at the highlights, Thorne did miss a bunch of check downs. But to be fair, he didn’t even have 2 Mississippi’s to get the ball out. My take away is Auburn has an OL problem. Specifically in pass protection. On the opposite end, they are good run blockers. In the first half, your RB was averaging a high clip. But I think I read before the game, the OL was basically new and young.

This is true, but I think the OL problem got compounded the second A&M noted he could not/would not throw the ball. That was ringing the dinner bell for all intents and purposes.

I am betting you weren't gloating in the first half. Thank Auburn for knocking your starting QB out and allowing Johnson in to open things up.
