Sankey has no choice but to go after Clemson, Miami, Florida State and Notre Dame to keep up

Meh, in a normal season, they'd be 8 win teams in the SEC...

Rankings are like a beauty pageant. Meaningless. Let’s revisit this after the playoffs.

This is just about every year new guy. Yawn.

How many teams from the SEC have left the conference to join another conference?
Yawn.
Yawn.

Until they start winning games that matter, this means nothing.

Poor Sankey is playing catchup. Notre Dame and Florida State will be in the B1G, maybe more.

Last Tuesday, for internet exposure and tv money.

Oh wait, I know... they didn't think Guglielmo Marconi's little invention would pan out !

First of all, on paper, there are only 3 teams on that list of 6 that would have the defensive prowess needed to play meaningful football in the SEC.
Second, CBS signed a big contract with the Big Ten and is trying to pump up the Big Ten as being an up and coming competitive conference equal with the SEC.
Third, talk is very cheap and last season Michigan, Ohio State and USC were all lined up because of media pressure from CBS to get one of those teams into the championship game in Los Angeles. All three of those teams bit the dust and lost.
Seriously, when Michigan announced that they would have a certain time set aside during their practices to focus on beating Georgia, it spoke volumes about how little they respect the competition in their own conference.

My point exactly. One left because of a squabble and a huff. Another the same. All of them a long, long time ago.
Those other conferences are rummaging around in the second hand bin. We have already taken the top flight programs out there that contribute to conference success.

It’s early and it will not last.

They all left and went independent first. None joined a conference.
Tulane and Sewanee chose to de-emphasize athletics. Huge mistake for Tulane. They could have competed if they tried and want back in with the big boys now. Sewanee had no hope and are div 3 now.
Georgia Tech didn't like the way Bama was running Birmingham and they felt that they were big enough to survive as a major independent, another mistake. They would give anything to be back in the SEC now.

It's going to be ugly, especially after y'all lose a game

Of course Texas is worried about the standings in September it's the only time they ever look good in them lately.
