How can we make this happen. The game has turned into a dang slap-fight and worst of all, ball carriers are allowed to drop their heads any time they want.

Really, I don't think I have ever seen a guy injured lowering his head on a tackle. Defenders have much more risk keeping their heads up when the ball carrier lowers his head into his face-mask. A guy will get his neck snapped doing that. Either let guys play, or make ball carriers stop lower their heads.

should be offensive targeting as well if you are going to have defensive, and if they both lower then its offsetting

Targeting is fine but it needs to go back to intent to injury another player like it was originally. There was absolutely nothing Jam could’ve done today to avoid making contact with his helmet on that play. The returner bent down after he went to make the tackle.

If he had his eyes up and head back, it wouldn’t have been targeting. Can’t use the crown.

If he had had his head back the guy would have broken his neck. Dude stuck the crown of his helmet into Miller. It's a bullcrap call.

They claim it’s to protect the defenders from concussions however if he would’ve kept his head up on that play he’s head would’ve whipped back from the contact and he would’ve definitely been seeing stars.
The NCAA can’t have it both ways. You either have to let defenders level offensive players with their shoulders or stop calling targeting when the defender is taking the hit to avoided getting the targeting foul.

100%
I’ve jammed my neck on a play just like that in HS.

You’re correct, but even then with a text book tackle center of the chest the crown can hit under the chin, Refs will call it especially on a QB

I can see if a guy uses his helmet as a weapon against a truly defenseless player like the QB after a throw. But when the other player drops his body or lowers his own head. No.

Don’t mind the rule but don’t like the ejection tied to it.

It most definitely should not be called on review. If it doesn’t look bad enough to call on the original play, then play on.

However, it absolutely should be overruled by review. Guys shouldn’t be tossed by a bad judgment.

At this point, the best way forward is to eliminate the ejection. They act like guys aren’t dissuaded by the 15 yard penalty. Horse collars and face masks can be just as dangerous and they obviously don’t carry an ejection.

I would like to se it gone due to making the game so soft and uninteresting. Fans get absolutely jacked up by big hits. Heck our whole team was dancing after Miller’s hit. It is a big part of the game. Let them play.
