Nonsense, basically anyone associated under his tree has been given an opportunity elsewhere

Their success is a different story, but his coaching tree is as large as it gets

This is like misreporting that someone is dead. Even if it's not true now, eventually it will be.

maybe the answer is that Saban has lost his edge as a coach.

That's a definite possibility but considering the doubt and criticism he and the team are receiving now, I doubt he's ever been more motivated.

You are insane. Saban will go down as the best Coach of all time. Period, end of sentence, no more.....

I am bookmarking this stupid thread so I can reply to it at the end of the season when Bama wins the West and is in the playoff.

And this from a Dawg fan.

Saban exposed in the NIL era by Silverback911
With the NIL, parity has arrived in college football. Gone are the days or Saban landing a top 5 recruit only for the recruits “uncle” to win a prize drawing for an 80 thousand dollar car a few weeks later.

It’s become clear he is not the greatest of all time. Just the most clever cheater. You can expect more of this going forward.

Honestly ... this really applies to Clemson and Dabo more than anyone.

At least Saban and Bama were/are Saban and Bama ... HoF coach and a blueblood.

Clemson and Dabo literally are the epitome of what this thread is all about ... they've been exposed by NIL.

For a split second in time, maybe. Maybe.

The disparity will return; only it’ll be because of … NIL.

Big disparity in $$$ across CFB, even among the big names.

Saban exposed in the NIL era

nah. Everyone's always paid palyers now it's just done more openly and with bigger numbers

-The transfer portal is to me one of the biggest issues for saban (and everyone). Pre-2018 they had absolute mega studs taht would, don't laugh, wait their turn! to start and ball out. 5* guys that were top 5 nationally at their position would often wait until theri sophomore or junior year before getting a lion's share of PT. Those days are long gone. Now if you aren't starting entering summer of sophomore year you're gone. Granted they've had some success with the portal too, notably with gibbs and jameson williams, but they cant' simply stockpile talent on the bench like htey used to
-Other teams are on the rise.
-He doesn't have the embarrassment of riches on staff he used to. Look at their 2015 coaching staff. One of the years jsut before Kirby left they had Kirby, Mel Tucker, Cristobal, Napier, Tosh, and Kiffin all on one staff. Ridiculous. Lately they've had BOB and Golding and now steele and rees. Talk about a down grade
-He's old. Not to say he's not mentally sharp or isnt' capable of beign elite, but I mean he's just old. There's no way around it. I think I read something the other day that no coach has won a natty over the age of 70 (I think bowden was exactly 70). Saban is already 71 so he's clearly on the right half of his career arc.
-All good things come to an end. They've been the best dynasty the sport has ever seen but eventaully people just wnat somethign else.

This to me has been the biggest issue with Saban's increasing age. He seems to have lost the ability to find/develop quality assistants like he used to. He (or someone on staff) used to always find diamond in the rough 3 star type talent that no one else was recruiting that worked their asses off and turned into leaders on the team as well.

Yeah.

This argument doesn't make sense when you look at the recruiting rankings and see that Bama is still pulling the same talent they were a decade ago.

Is it? Not really. What you're seeing is simple inertia, which has already started to fade.

It ultimately comes down to the size of each program's fanbase. If NIL survives, there will be a group of 5 to 10 teams which will dominate year in, year out. The teams with the largest fanbases.

I’m 3 pages late, but has anyone pointed out that you have the IQ of wet cardboard and that Bama is on the heels of signing the 2nd highest ranked recruiting class of all time, and is ranked #1 in 2025 as well?

TIA.
