3 national champions
3 franchise QBs
3 Heisman finalists
And out of all of these guys, the one that actually won the Heisman was the one after Mac.

Oh, and one was a terrible penalty away from winning a Super Bowl where he outplayed Pat Mahomes. Absolutely unreal. Has to be the greatest QB room ever assembled. Sorry to say but we’re gonna have to get used to a gentrified version of the McElroy days. Tommy is better than Bill but he ain’t no Kiffin or Sarkisian. And he’s certainly not working with what either of the former had at their disposal during their time here.

No one's asking him to conjure up the second coming of Tua. Literally all of us would be fine at this point if he could merely produce a new JPW

I get it that recruiting is an inexact "science" but I'm just amazed that out of all the QBs on the roster, not one of them appear to be ready?

Bryce was a once in a generation QB. I get it, but the drop off has been Grand Canyon like.

What makes it more mind-boggling is that we live in the transfer portal era and apparently couldn't entice a single decent QB from the entire population of CFB players to play for the GOAT and get paid a ton of money.

How do we miss on QBs ? Have you checked our history of elite QBs? After Richard Todd we never had an elite QB till Tua. That’s almost 50 years.
You can make an arguable case for Croyle and McCarron, but that’s it.

AJ was Heisman runner up. He was an elite CFB QB.

Hell, Greg McElroy started as many games for the Jets as Aaron Rodgers and finished with more TDs, a better completion %, and a better QB rating than Rodgers had in NY.

Recruiting was so different in the past that you really can't make any comparison. For most of that span, even a brand like Alabama pretty much had to hope that an elite QB prospect was born in state or the surrounding area. Look at Bama's 92 championship team - basically every player was born in Alabama or within 100 miles of it.

JPW would die behind this oline. The tackles are fine but our middle is middle of the pack in all of college football.
