It might come at the perfect time to find that "through line" to make the offense gel with run and pass

Might not be a bad idea with the number of receivers we have

I think that will be the goal.
But he (even as a wide receiver) doesn't have Kenny McIntosh's range.
Kenny was plus hands and plus range.

Kenny could run between the tackles better than anyone we have on the team so far this season.

I'd still take a healthy Kendall. (Daijun will be able to make a case as well).
But I agree. To date, Kenny is better than everything we have rolled out the first 2 weeks.

Agree Milton is better than he has shown so far. He hasn’t had a burst in a while.. I love Edwards. He is a slasher and slippery and gets extra yards between the tackles. Less with power, but same result.

Milton always struck me as a guy with questionable balance. It seems that he falls over at first contact.

Am I the only one that thinks mews is going to find his way into the rotation as the year goes on? He falls forward for 3-4 yards every time he gets tackled. Amazing speed and vision. He so short the defense can’t see him coming.

I think our run game is gonna look a lot more efficient when edwards comes back. Right now our backfield consists of:
-A gimpy bigger bodied dude who has some alright vision and speed but doesnt' really break tackles and is hardly ever healthy
-A big bodied bowling ball that is hard to bring down but has yet to show much wiggle or speed
-A freshman recovering from injury that hasn't gotten but like 2 carries
-A walkon that is fast but doesn't really create his own lanes or break tackles super well
Edwards fixes several of those things. He is a tough runner but he's also by far the quickest of all the above and has the best ability to make something on his own and find a crease. Amazing how much better an offense looks when the exact same called runnign play goes for 8 yards instead of 1 based on who's carrying the ball.

Cash Jones can fit that role too.

Probably still very raw. Has to learn pass pro and nuances of the position, I imagine.
But man, he is electric.

Wasn't Cook like that early on?

Has no business being in the backfield unless we are up by 50

That is an incorrect description which gets passed along on message boards because of a few instances.
Earlier in his career, Milton tried to dance away from defenders (trading power away for agility) and it didn't work.
When he played behind his pads, he has always been tough to tackle.
Kendall had 8 rushing TDs in 2022. He only had 85 rushing attempts.
You don't even get reps in goalline situations if you are falling over at first contact.

I haven't seen enough from Milton to restore confidence like I had when McIntosh, Zeus, Swift or even James Cook were carrying the ball in recent years.

youtube. Milton 2022
When he is running behind his pads, he is pushing forward.
When his feet are in the air because of jump cuts, he has no power and is top heavy.
He gets the coaching and is one of our best options when healthy

funny you say that. I was just thinking earlier today about some of hte key differences in our 21/22/23 squads, mainly the difference in 21/22 since 23 is still so young. One of the most glaring things to me was the RB postion. In '21 we had Zamir, Cook, KMac, and Milton. That's ridiculous. Compare that to now having Milton/Edwards/Robinson and...well yeah let's say there's a pretty big drop off.

I mean first 2 out of 3 carries in that video are him getting cut down before goal line.
One being an absolutely terrible decision to cut inside.
Will continue video later.

Then you obviously don't remember him down the home stretch of the season. Lol
