Reading between the lines of Saban's comments before the Texas game he was never sold on Milroe being the guy. With that said, I'm thinking he didn't pull Milroe to make sure there was no dissension on the team when Milroe would eventually be replaced. Just thinking it could've been messy and political if Saban along with new OC Tommy Rees name as starter for game 1 Tyler Buchner who played for Rees at ND.

You guys think about skin color too damn much. Every kid on that team wants to win and aren't as concerned about what color the QB is like some on this forum.

Saban wants to win too he just has made some really bad hires that has set us back.

In short; no one on that team or staff gives a damn about what color the QB is. They just want to win.

That’s what I’m hoping. I think it was truly a test for Milroe. Saban knows they can win a championship with a loss. Bad thing is this team still has some soft spots regardless. Hopefully that’s the best D line this offense will face in the regular season. Texas is honestly a good team, and I haven’t noticed anyone giving them credit here. It’s not like Bama lost to South Carolina by a few fluke plays. Their defense is legit, and Ewers is a hell of a qb. Has Bama taken a step back from the standard? Yes, but it’s been that way for a while, and drastic changes don’t happen over a summer unless it’s a situation like Colorado is experiencing. It’s too early to give up now. Hopefully the right changes are made.

You’re the only one mentioning skin color here.

No, I don't think race was an issue. I didn't even think about race when I posted this. Milroe has been at Bama for 3 years. He has relationships with his teammates. Surely Saban considered how it would look to not name him as starter to the team for a guy who just transferred in.

Their defense is legit

Texas' defense is not good. Guys were wide open all game. An accurate quarterback making progressions would have put nearly 50 points on them, and I expect we will see them get gashed that way before the season is done.

Their secondary is suspect but their front 7 is legit good.

Why now? If that was the case why did Gibbs, Williams, and others come in a start after transferring.

Either Saban thinks Milroe is the best option over the others and if the case we are 8-9 win season or he made the wrong choice that will probably cost us the playoffs now.

It is what it is.

Some of you are really reaching on this. No test but a gamble that cost us going to the playoffs. I understand a lot can change over the course of the season, but I highly doubt Saban wants to be in a situation where we do not control our own destiny. And we are definitely on the outside looking in now.

Yes we had guys wide open but we had a qb who couldn’t scan the field and a line who couldn’t block to save their lives.

Our goals haven't changed. That was an out of conference loss. If we win out we're in the playoff.

JMO but if a change is to be TRIED then it starts today not at the half of the USF game. You have seen enough of #4 to at least understand what he brings to the table.

We also understand that the other two guys didn't show enough to take the spot. Switching puts 7-5 on the table for sure but sticking with 4 gets you 8-4 anyway.

I would try these other two vs USF just like it were a scrimmage and hope we win. You may have to revert back to 4.

Tuff situation

The USF game will tell us nothing about any QB that plays. Milroe looked good against a better MTSU team and shite the bed against a competent defense at home.

If Buchner or Simpson go 10/10 for 200 yards and 4 TDs each half that means nothing. You could find out they're terrible if they play poorly, but nothing they do can show they're capable of leading the offense against teams with a pulse.

Saban put Milroe in the game and kept him there because he thought that was the best option. No matter how you slice it, that is a bad sign.

If we win out, then we are definitely not on the outside looking in. We're in. Is it likely we can win out? No, but we still have a better shot than 90% of the other teams out there.

Never said they have.

Still a loss but with a win we possibly could have dropped the SECCG to UGA and still got in the playoffs.

Not guaranteed and with continuing seasons of not dominating the Bama bump by the CFB playoff committee will disappear. We are headed sown a path where people are starting to doubt this team.

I know things will change over the course of the season but lets look at the current environment of CFB.

FSU top 4 team in the country looking like they can go undefeated and the ACC champion.

Texas top 4 team could run the table and B12 champion and with already beaten UA will go over us even if we win out.

Both schools are getting a lot of attention by the media

USC top 5 with possibly repeat Heisman QB winning out the PAC12 who currently has 8 teams in the AP poll.

UM or OSU either win out including their conference CG will be in.

UGA and the B10 champ are a lock if they go undefeated. I would also argue if FSU, USC, and Texas all win out they would go in over us. I could actually see if UA beats UGA in Atlanta that the SEC could left out this year.

Either way if we cannot put a better product on the field than what we saw on Saturday 8 games is game to be a good finish this year.

Over an undefeated B12 champ Texas who already beat us?

PAC 12 champ who right now looks like the strongest conference.

B10 undefeated champ no way.

Maybe depends on we play the rest of the season an undefeated ACC champ but if we play close games all season or are sloppy like winning out will not guarantee a thing for this team.
