Coaching at Duke.

I just saw that and thought that there couldn't be a much more "oil and water" combo than Trooper and Duke.

Mike Elko is a good coach. I’m sure he put together a solid staff.

Yeah, he's been at Duke for years.

Told y’all before last season Mike Elko was the boss. Clemson clearly doesn’t have elite WRs anymore they keep trying to find that clone 6’3” 215 pound WR but alll they get is tall guys with no speed. But Elko can put together a defense and when you defense you have a chance against anyone

The thing I remember about Trooper's days at Auburn is that receivers started catching balls and taking the 50/50 ones too.
A color segment on one of the games had a brief interview with him where he said he had receivers play catch with bricks to learn soft hands and had them play with the BB team for rebounds.

Trooper did well at AU up until 2012 and he was one of the primary reasons of that downfall. Knives in the back of some good people. Was the main cheerleader of the chemistry problems behind the scenes. Good recruiter but cancer in the locker room

Trooper apologist here. He could recruit, he did not cause 2012, circumstances and Chiz were the main drivers. Everyone made mistakes in 2012, Troop sided with the players and tried to hold it together.

I don't know about all the drama that happened at the end of Chizik's tenure.
Is there a video on youtube or anything?

What did Chizik do other than change the offense?
Other than have to put a curfew on idiotic players acting like complete fools? And you support Trooper undermining the head coach because he wanted to be buddies with the players instead of their mentor and coach? Ok then

Winning only 3 games against lowly teams and went 0-8 in conference. That will create some serious stress all around.

When things go as bad as they did, as fast as they did under Chizik, there are a whole lot of people at fault. A lot. But, people love to find someone they can target and blame. Makes them feel better when the answer is usually more complicated. I’m sure Trooper made some mistakes, but I take a lot of what I hear with a grain of salt.

SIAP or if I am stating the obvious that everyone knows, but Chizik has been the DC at UNC for years. UNC's D for the past few years has looked a lot like AU's during CGC stints at AU - bend, not break, etc. CGC has always been much more highly respected as a DC during his career than a HC. Good for him - I think and hope he is happy in his role and doing well. War Eagle. It's kind of amazing all of the good relationships Auburn and former coaches have maintained over the decades with only a few notable exceptions (Bowden, Harsin are the only 2 HCs that jump out, and only a handful of asst coaches - TFranklin (never a relationship to begin with), DCraig, TRocker off the top of my head), and other sports as well except for Tony Barbie and Sunny Galloway. Former players as well or even more so.
Was Troop waving a towel? Just curious... Where is Luper these days? Thought I saw he was....somewhere but can't remember and don't care to look it up. Hope he is well too. Troop and Lupe's boys played together at AHS.
ETA Lupe has been RB coach at Misery since '19 same year Troop joined UNC. Seems DCGC also joined around then. Son Cam Echols was a standout returner / receiver at TCU IIRC.
ETA II never knew, or forgot, his birth name was Carl. Carl "Trooper" Taylor (born February 20, 1970) is an American college football coach at Duke University.
ETA III - Good for Blaise!

Blaise Taylor is in his first season with Utah State’s football program as a senior defensive analyst. In his role with the Aggies, Taylor will be assisting the defensive secondary. Taylor comes to Utah State after spending the past four years with the Tennessee Titans. In June of 2021, Taylor was promoted from a scouting assistant to a pro scout, where his duties included preparing opponent breakdowns, position matchup breakdowns and offensive and defensive PFF analysis of opponents on a weekly basis. He also evaluated and graded NFL free agents for free agency.
Before making his way to Nashville, Taylor was a defensive graduate assistant at Duke. While with the Blue Devils, he aided in coaching the linebackers in a 4-2-5 scheme (that's Chiziki's IIRC) and assisted in all phases of special teams, working with all returners in the process.
Taylor was a four-year starter and team captain at Arkansas State from 2014-17, earning first-team all-Sun Belt Conference honors as both a defensive back and punt returner. He ended his collegiate career as the Red Wolves’ record holder for punt return yards (1,151) and pass breakups (30), and the Sun Belt’s all-time leader in passes defended (36). His four punt returns for touchdowns also rank second in league history and he holds three of the top-10 marks in school history for punt return yards in a game and in a season as well as the two highest punt return averages in a game all-time. Taylor helped lead Arkansas State to three straight Sun Belt Championships and bowl games. Taylor ended his career as a two-time all-Sun Belt selection, an Arthur Ashe Jr. Male Sports Scholar of the Year and William V. Campbell Trophy Finalist.
The native of Waco, Texas, earned his master of business administration (MBA) in August of 2017 with a 3.82 GPA, and he also graduated magna cum laude in August of 2016 with his bachelor’s degree in business administration. A member of the Arkansas State chancellor’s list, dean’s list, athletics director’s honor roll and Sun Belt Conference commissioner’s list, Taylor earned both degrees in less than four years, a feat that gave him the distinction of being the only current player at that time in the Football Bowl Subdivision to earn both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees before the start of his true senior season.
Taylor and his sister, Dr. Starr Taylor, who was a guard on the women’s basketball team at Arkansas State, created a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization called “The Power of 1 or 2,” which works with underprivileged, at-risk children.
Following his stellar career at Arkansas State, Taylor played in the 2018 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, where he led the National Team with seven tackles, including 1.0 tackles for loss. He also returned one punt for 10 yards. Prior to joining the coaching ranks, Taylor participated in the New Orleans Saints rookie minicamp in May of 2018.
