The team looked great overall, but the OL didn’t impress me much.

They weren’t exactly mauling the Blue Raiders’ DL.
I wish the media wouldn’t hype their size so much.

I have seen our OL struggle against cupcakes in years 5hey turned out absolutely dominant. I think it was 2012 when Western Kentucky mauled us up front in what was one of the best OLs we have ever had. I think they will be fine, bu admit that the G position was worrisome.

The goal line play where the RB ran into a wall and had to bounce it out was disappointing…especially since it was immediately after the broadcast team was hyping their size.

Defense seems as if they still lose sight of a running back coming out of the backfield for a pass. That was my only complaint for them.

I thought the same, as well as the breakdowns in protection - though that may have been RB related breakdown.
However the OL generally looks bad against G5 teams which might have to do with vanilla playcalling and basic blocking schemes.

This seems to be so for every football team at every level. IMO, it’s the most reliably devastating play at any level of football.

I thought that MTSU stacked the line to make our quarterback have to beat them so that running was hard to do. Seemed like Milroe held the ball a long time on the long completions, something he might not be able to do against better defensive lines.

I was really excited about this years OL until I found out Dalcourt was starting. The guy is a fly flopping around in your soup. I'd like to send the entire OL back to the kitchen and have it brought back without any Dalcourt in it.
All I can imagine is there isn't another backup center, and they cant risk him transferring. Cant wait for the guy to move on to the NFL, and have a long productive career there. Somewhere far far away from Tuscaloosa.

Dalcourt is a graduate student, so I think this is his last year of eligibility.
Also, the pre-game depth chart said Brockermeyer was the backup center, so in a situation where Seth goes down (God forbid), I wonder if they'd put Brockermeyer in or shift Dalcourt to center.

Ferguson looked much better than Dalcourt when he came in to the game.

The same thing people say after the first game every year.

You should probably do a bit of film study. This video may help you understand how MTSU relies on stacking 8-9 people on the box on feast or famine plays. It also highlights how we weren’t trying to run to take pressure off of Milroe. Less than half our drives were part of any script.
