I don't think I'm going to like this. It just means there will be fewer plays, which just means less football. Less chance of comebacks and other amazing things that can happen when given the opportunity. Now, once a team goes up, the chance for the other team to make adjustments and get back in the game gets completely limited.

But we get to see many commercials!

It was mentioned that with the old rules, you could be down 21 in the 4th and make a come back. That will be less likely now this year.

The only good thing I see from this may be teams will run the ball more. Take the lead, and start the run. Maybe thats why LSU has such a large RB room? I don't really know. I love football, and getting less is not something I'm going to cheer.

Give me yet another reason to not give a flip about sports.

Are we seriously complaining about gameplay being more efficient?
We want 5 hour games still? (And no, it wasn’t the damn commercials causing this)

all because the TV networks want to load up on commercials
Excessive commercials are annoying, but how else are the networks going to pay the millions of dollars each team gets?
I'd rather have ad reads by the announcers between plays, digital ad placements in the ticker, etc, than game stoppages.

I think it’s fine, this game can’t be Indicative; because all Navy games are fast because the run the ball so much.
But to your point how to you think networks are paying Billions to the SEC. You can’t have both.

Under the old rules ND wins 63-6 instead of 42-3. That’s supposed to be better?
Just moving closer to NFL game length. If you’re down 21 in the fourth you’re probably not winning anyway and the loss is just drawn out.
Michigan led the country in 4th quarter scoring at 12.9 last year. I think the only season with a higher average the last 20 years was Houston in 2008 at 13.8.
Yes, there’ll be fewer plays and shorter games which will mean fewer 35 point wins and more 25 point wins.

You know, I completely forgot about this when I was predicting UGA's offense would set team records this year. The reality is they might on a per play basis, but this could make it not have as much per game.

I didn't even watch the game today, but I can tell I'm going to hate the new rule.
Don't frick with the game that we all love. This sounds like some bullshite.

Looks like over the first weekend, the average came out to about 4 less plays, and 6ish minutes less run time.
Ergo, this rule is STUPID.

Streaming has ruined my college football watching. Because I mostly stream content, I don’t watch commercials on tv anymore outside live football. I find myself puttering around or flipping the channel when the commercials come on.

Terrible decision to make this rule.
