That's weird, because no one else's plant workers make serious money.

Where did you get these numbers?
Congressional districts of each State?
Congressional districts of each State?

Now do it vis a vis cost of living. It’s not what you make it’s what you keep.

States with no state income tax usually have higher property taxes than others that do. Texas has one of the highest averages of property tax rates in the nation and a lot of people who move there forget about calculating property taxes.
Here in California, it's through the roof, regardless. It's awful here.
I was aware we weren't the only people paying them but damn I thought it was alot. My old man passed a few years ago and I inherited our old house, 2400 Sq ft with 5 acres of land is in Tennessee is 400 a year and have no state income tax. Granted that's in a really rural area and I live in a burb of dallas. I guess I didn't realize how much state income tax is.

A lot of Florida retirees are quite wealthy.

I’m surprised Tennessee is so poor. I thought the moonshine industry would have been more profitable.

$400 ? Are you kidding me? Property must be valued very low in Tennessee. That’s ridiculously low

If you took out the delta, Mississippi's average would be much higher.

The same can be said for the hills of Eastern Kentucky weighing our totals down.

But it isn't. It's not 1935 anymore. Back then, yeah.

Our cost of living here in SC has gone-up because of the enormous numbers of wealthy yankees moving into the state when escaping blue states.
We also have a lot of halfbacks moving up here from Florida.
It's taxing on our infrastructure (which is why we just enacted a state wide yankee tax) and causing prices to rise on everything, especially housing/real estate.
Property taxes along the coast and around our resort lakes are through the roof.
