”Alleged”

He hasn’t provided any definitive proof. All he has done is come out 19 years after the fact saying he didn’t know what he was really signing.

The Tuohy's are completely full of shite. Now Sean is saying they couldn't adopt him because he was over 18 and they don't allow that. Adult adoption is completely legal in TN and is in fact simpler than adopting a child. The fact that he gave that as the excuse for having him sign a conservatorship rather than adopting him is more hot air. Oh yeah, Sean also said the only way he could go to Ole Miss is if he was officially part of the family. None of what he's saying makes sense.

You seem overly obsessed with what “those people” are getting. It’s also making you very angry. Anything you want to share with the class that you’re just aching to get off your chest there dude?

They are suspect because they scammed a kid. And your people are defending that scam.

Honestly no one in the country cares more about this story than Meddog. He's been crying about The Blindside on this site since it's release.

These barely sports related issue threads are funny to read, watching posters navigate their biases. Here:
Anti-Ole Miss, plenty.
Pro-Tenn? Kinda
Racist bias, slightly, both sides.
Other?
A lot of pile on against the Tuohys.

Harry has quite a lot of anger built up over all the perks that those “black people” are getting. Don’t you Harry you racist piece of crap?

Who is defending them? Where are they? If you link one of the homer websites then you’re a dumber motherfricker than I initially thought

Could it be that what the Tuohys did is suspect, regardless of the races of the people involved?

I mean it's Ole Miss so racism is an easy card to pull out of the deck.

But forget the races for a second and think about how they capitalized on this kid's obvious potential and talent, and milked that association and legal authority for everything it was worth, for many years. It doesn't matter if Oher is black or white. It sounds like they are trashy people who took advantage of a situation, and wrapped it up in "white savior" type behavior.

The racial harmony aspect was played up heavily in the movie, book etc to increase the appeal of the story.

I agree. It doesn’t make sense. Which is why I don’t believe it’s true

If Oher had been white, you would have never heard of the Tuohy’s. It does matter. The racial aspect is the reason there was so much money that the Tuohy’s could make off of him.

You’re sure focused on race judging from your posts in this thread. Projection seems like

Back when this story became a book and movie, I remember thinking "wow, what an amazing coincidence that the poor black child these incredibly generous people decided to care for turned out to be an NFL-caliber football player".

That's sort of how it was cast. There are many poor kids of all races who need help, but they chose this one.

They seem like very calculating people who tried to characterize what they were doing as "charity", and just good old fashioned luck.

They're savvy business people. They are successful for a reason, and it isn't because they are bleeding-hearts seeking to better the world. They capitalize on opportunities, and this situation sounds like it was just another transaction to them.

Sean Tuohy publicly stated he told Oher that?

Yes, I'm pulling from the response articles that have been posted since yesterday after Oher made headlines. Glad I clarified that since you thought Oher said that and was lying.

You have to understand that this is a conference where boosters are willing to embezzle money from a hospital to pay their players. LINK

Many of the fools here think what the Touhy's did is acceptable behavior.

The Tuohy’s made this about race from the beginning. That’s the whole point of the entire subject. Are you a moron?

Pretty sure Touhy was already pretty wealthy with all the taco bells he owns.
not sure what he gained from the whole Oher deal but if they still have some kind of control over him than that's wrong and should be ended immediately or should have been ended the day he was drafted into the NFL and could support himself
If they controlled some of Oher's wealth after he went pro than that is a pretty bad look

Aggies Foundation President was paying players and put Aggies on probation years ago
