These lightning delays are ridiculous.
So the players go in the locker room and the 90,000 fans have to sit there on metal bleachers in the rain and get struck by lightning.
It's never happened.
Get on with the game.

It's never happened because we take the appropriate amount of caution. Lightning can strike as far as 25 miles away from a thunderstorm, so it's better to be safe than sorry.

This would be a nice editorial for WBT’s newspaper

I agree. Next time there’s a thunderstorm you should run around on the field to prove them wrong.

If I see lightning, I would use some of that personal responsibility and remove myself from the metal seats in the open to at least under the stadium infrastructure.

You're probably one of those golfers that keeps playing in a storm. Well it has never happened to you, so why not just keep at it?

Your post has to be one of the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen a Dawg post. And if you are sitting in the bleachers in the rain during a lightning warning instead of sheltering on the concourses you are dumb. Geeez! Why don’t you take a hike to the top of the north upper ozone bleachers and dare the gods to strike you down. You just might get your wish

Old man yells at cloud.
Lightning won’t strike until it does and then you’re in a world of shite.

Never worked on a construction site have you? Ignore a lightening shutdown and you will be fired. The threat is real. Google lightening facts.

Higher chance of getting killed by a speeding UGA player, right? Let the kids play!

This is what golf is missing these days, players with a personality and sense of humor.

I'm just northeast of Birmingham and I know some of you had the same storms, but lightning hit a tree or something on the other side of Highway 11 about 400 yards from my house while I was on the front porch yesterday. That's the first time I've seen a big bolt so close up. It looked more orange and purple than blue like it is in the sky and the sound was insane. My chest felt weird for about 30 minutes. If you want to risk being out in the open for something like I saw yesterday, all I can say is I would advise against it.

I have been far too near to lightning striking a tree in a neighbor’s yard while I stood on my screen porch and it was an experience. I have also had two friends who were camping near where lightning struck a tree and even though they were somewhat shielded by their sleeping pads, they both said it felt like being hit as hard as possible with a baseball bat.
