95% what we did the first half has been excellent. The offense is exactly as advertised. The defense looks mean. A few breakdowns (LB filling a gap) is about all that went poorly.

I’m not gonna over react but the offense is as good as I hoped/expected. Defense will find its groove I’m not worried. IMO best we’ve looked opening weekend in a while!

We’ve got to run the ball between the tackles better. Need to be dual threat.

I think we’ll be fine on the ground. We needed to see this air raid style offense tonight.

I would have liked to see more pre snap motions

This shouldn’t be used as a barometer for the running game, New Mexico’s style is to sell out to stop the run at all costs. They do a lot of wild run blitzes and their safeties live in the box. Nobody else we face will play defense like that.

I am happy to announce:

We have won,

and the sick deranged fricks from Waco lost.

All is well.

Great to hear, was concerned with the run success.

Will see how the offense does with a talented defense, but the passing was extremely encouraging. I know, throw it up to superior athletes against inferior competition, but that’s EXACTLY what made half the losses last year so frustrating. When all else fails, stop trying to overthink everything and get the ball to your stars.

Yes it is. We spread the ball out and attacked them all over the field. One game in…. I like it. Clearly have lots of talent in all skill positions. We get the inside running game improved then look out.

New Mexico put eight in the box to stop the run. Should be more balanced next week

So refreshing not to be screaming at my TV because we couldn't get a play in on time. I never want to see Jimbo looking over his glasses at that big arse play sheet again in my life.

To your point not a timeout was wasted.

Significant to me that we looked prepared on offense.

Against New Mexico I doubt we showed a fraction of the playbook

I expect defense to continue to progress as the season goes on. Too talented not to. Overall very happy with Week 1 even against an inferior opponent real big game this week, the U may not be a world beater but a good team on the road may be the test we need early. I expect the boys in maroon to deliver
