The SEC is not going to get more money out of ESPN by going to a 9 game schedule.

ESPN is owned by Disney and Disney is not in a good financial situation.
- Disney + is losing subscribers.
- Their parks are dropping in attendance and they are giving out hotel deals during their peak season.
- Their movie division is putting out one bad film after another.
- several years ago they overpaid for Fox Studios and are in over their head.
- they are about to go to court over unpaid money for Hulu to comcast which some estimate to be over 30 billion.
- they cannot refinance any of the above debts because interest rates are not low anymore.
I think we are stuck with the 8 game conference schedule for the time being and I don’t like it.
I want to play LSU every year. Iron sharpens iron.

Well Disney did save that billion dollars in Fla by not investing further in a state that has a moron for a governor. That should help a little.

If he's such a moron then why are so many people moving there?

They halted this because of the issues mentioned in the OP, not because of Florida.

He gets credit for a 7 decade trend?

Why? Because we can’t teach gay sex in elementary schools. Florida is the most desirable state in the country and we are doing just fine

Don't forget that Disney is doing its best to run afoul of bond covenants with their RCID-Florida case. The company may very well be on the hook for the entirety of the RCID debt if they keep conflating themselves with RCID.

Largest population growth in the country in 2022.

This comment is going to derail this thread.

I really hate when political stuff hits sports message boards... but I do laugh when those on one side of the political spectrum defend "their guy" when he actually does stuff that's objectively against what they say they believe.
Conservatives are about letting the markets decide, doing away with government regulation and letting businesses do their thing unimpeded so they can create jobs and make the economy run.
But the current governor of Florida is increasing government regulation, directly attacking one of the biggest businesses in the state and loudly saying that the government should decide for you rather than letting the markets decide.
I mean... if you want to be a Republican or be a Democrat... that's great. But can you be consistent at least?
Are we cool with governments going after businesses now that have differing political opinions? Can Biden enact regulations through the executive branch that only impact Fox News but not any other station? Because that's the precedent that is being set in Florida. And it's not very Republican (based on their stated beliefs at least).
Whatever, I guess hypocrisy in political views is par for the course. It's why these posts shouldn't be allowed on a sports board.

Let's compare him to other eras of florida...

It definitely appears to be the lowest rate of growth during the 7 decade trend I referenced
