And if Texas football is a joke, then Arkansas obviously is too. Unfortunately you've had the benefit of being in the SEC for 30 years and are still a joke.
But here’s the real issue. Yes, Arkansas struggles compared to the rest of the conference in football and probably always will, I’ll admit it. The embarrassing thing is that Texas struggles and shouldn’t. There is no comparison in money and resources between the two. Arkansas does the best with what it has for the most part but Texas Waaay under achieves.

Growing up in Little Rock, I thought Arkansas was more Southwestern, along with Texas and Oklahoma. Missouri was more like Big Ten country than SEC, outside of the bootheel. Southwest Little Rock was more Southern, along with everything Southeast of it.
Today it's all different. Missouri, Oklahoma and Arkansas all seem Southern. Texas has some Southern influence, but I'd say that it's the most different today, rather than Missouri.

I consider the SEC Southern. So, in order from most to least from experience.
1. South Carolina
2. Arkansas
3. Aggie
4. OU
5. Texas
6. Mizzou

This is probably true...if so its due to the homogenization of the rest of the south toward the rest of the nation....it certainly wasn't true about 20 years or so ago

legit forgot that game took place
I was severely under the influence when that occurred and legit lold that Ed O had just lost to Missouri. Only time I’ve ever laughed at an LSU loss.

Do you know why Missouri has a boot heel?
Because the owner of the land said no f'ing way will you put my land in the loser state of ar-kansas when state lines were being drawn up.
That one left a hell of a mark on aR!

I don't know if 20 years ago is the best marker, but I agree. I grew up in the 70's and 80's, but mostly the 70's.

I was born in 90 so I don’t remember the SEC without the Cocks and Pigs and fanbases are normally pretty cool IRL.
I was born way before that, and overall I liked the SEC being a 10-team league. It was great for basketball because your team played everyone else twice in the regular season. It was great for football because even though the league schedule was 6 and then 7 games, most schools played great home-and-home nonconference series.
I didn't like it for baseball because your team didn't play everyone else when in reality, a true round-robin schedule could have been played in a 27-game schedule (though the number of home and away games would have been uneven). In fact, for a long time in baseball, schools only played inside their divisions, with home-and-home visits for 24 games in the league. I don't think that changed until the late '80s.
The conference is too big at 14 and will really be too big at 16. But 16 helps everyone eventually play everyone more frequently in football, and that's what matters to me.
