Has us at #3

ESPN

Where Georgia is: Fans will have issue with Georgia's ranking here as the two-time defending national champion, but the FPI projects UGA to be 27.4 points better than the average opponent, placing third among teams according to that analytic.

I think that’s great. If they believed they would go 7-6 last year, this will be plenty of motivation.

Funny how WE have questions at QB supposedly, and that’s why we are 3…yet I saw no consternation over what OSU was going to do at QB. It’s all good though. Kirby will have these guys thinking they are predicted to go 0-12.

I’m all for motivation, but that’s not actually the ranking. It’s FPI which just goes off analytics and how bad we are supposed to beat people.

At the top is a link to actual preseason ranking which has us at 1

No matter…Kirby will find a way to use it to make the men feel like the sky is falling and that they are being disrespected.

Smart even referred to himself as an "optimist" after doubling down on the program mission statement.
"I've always said, we're built to sustain here and that's my motto," Smart said. "We're not trying to be a one-hit wonder. We want to put a really good football team out there each year and we're well on our way to doing that at this time."

Bingo. The combo of perpetual butthurt from tOSU folks (inside and outside of the program) about how the Peach Bowl went down, plus the talking heads saying it's the Buckeyes' time to shine?

Inject that shite straight into my veins. If we as fans welcome it, just think of how Kirby is spinning this into a season-defining narrative.

I really hope he has thought of that

From the metric that said anOSU and Clempson were better than LSU in 2019 and 8-5 Texas was the 7th best team in the country last year, among other oddities. FPI has always been ridiculous to me.

The credit/latitude Kirby has built at this point with DawgNation via back to back NCs? He has my complete trust.

with our schedule we should be able to 3peat. If UT is good again next year; we just need to ensure we beat them in the regular season. The only other team that seems to be a threat on our schedule is Ole Miss. This has to be one of the weaker schedules we've had with UF and AU down. Maybe some other team will be a surprise. You figure if we go undefeated we are in the playoffs and if one loss have to win seccg.

as is the case each and every year of the playoffs, this is entirely 100% dependent on the other confernece champs. It is absolutely possible to start the season 12-0 and miss the playoffs if we lose the SECCG. Of course that would require 4 undefeated P5 champs so the odds are not super likely of that happening, but it's not a slam dunk that we're a lock after the regular season.
