If he is also named coach in waiting, I think there is a possibility! I mean I wouldn’t be disappointed if true.

He's an NFL guy. Not happening.

Coach in waiting at Alabama or one of 32 NFL head coaches in the world.

Is there a competition to make the worst prediction for these coordinator positions?

Yes. I predict Jim McElwain will coach the defense.

Saban changes his mind and wants Golding back, Byrne gives Pete a $30 million contract.

He’s about to be a head coach in the NFL. He’s not going to be a college DC.

He's not coming to Alabama to be the DC.

Bring out the downvote brigade ... the first thought that popped into my head when DeMeco cancelled his remaining NFL Coaching interviews was that he was coming to Bama. Yes... stupid I know, but I am a fan

No one does the coach in waiting thing anymore. There has been an NCAA rule in place for over a decade that treats a coach in waiting as a second head coach: LINK

This means they face recruiting restrictions a normal coordinator would not. For that reason, the program is at a significant disadvantage if they name a coach in waiting. I don't think anyone has used this designation since Jimbo Fisher before Bowden's retirement nearly 15 years ago now.

Why do Alabama fans keep pushing this? He’s never coached a single day in college football. He’s going to be a great NFL head coach. Leave it at that.

Delusional. That's my only answer I can come up with.

The Al.com rag is pushing this bullshite like Saban should name Ryans HCIW because of his skin color without coming out and saying it.

If Demeco wanted to be coaching in college he'd be coaching in college.

I should probably return the calls from a N. Lou Saban that I have been screening

Not happening, he’s going to be the Texans or Broncos HC. He may end up being Saban’s replacement in 8-10 years though,

I wouldn't say no chance; but the odds are astronomical. Ryans is going to be an NFL head coach in no more than 3 weeks.

Pretty sure he'll be a NFL HC soon and I'll be pulling for him, but when the time comes for Bama to find another HC, I would want to see a resume showing real success in college and with recruiting.

This would be as bad as hiring one of “Bahr’s boys.”

Exactly, I don't know why people still bring it up. It would cost the program way more than it would ever help. There's a reason no program has done it since the Jimbo/Bowden days.
