Honest question beyond fact that nobody thought he was leaving:
Has anyone that still has 2 years of eligibility left at UGA, ever announced they’d be leaving a year early like he just did? Most wait until after a season to declare they’re leaving early , right? But big bad Hollywood Ladd just announced he’s out after this year

Didn’t know he was a threat to leave but I’m glad he’s coming back.

This is the exact type of thing Kirby began warning about 93 seconds after confetti fell last Monday

You think players who redshirt their freshman season should stay 5 years in college? Why?
Ladd got a good draft grade.
The WR draft class is weak.
Pensioning in the NFL is important.
Preseason, there were rumors that he and AD may leave after 2022.
Why do you have such sarcasm and disdain for UGA football players?

So did Chubb and Sony before their junior years, as just one example. But they made the decision AFTER their junior year to come back for one more.
So, they were wise not to post glamour shots of themselves boasting about one more year when it turned out to be two more years. Although, I wouldnt have expected those two to do anything like that. Would have been way out of charactr.
Anyway, Kirby has been asked a lot recently how you keep a team humble and hungry for a three-peat after all of this success, and his answers have all been phenomenal. Which is why its disappointing to me to see Ladd taking his gear to the mall to get glamour shots made so that he can announce digitally that he’s declaring for the 2024 NFL draft before practice has even began for the damn 2023 season.

I don't know much about Ladd as an individual so this isn't necessarily directed at him specifically, but sadly I think this is just the nature of the game in today's modern society.
I've spouted about this plenty in the past, but it's a society issue with a lot of the thigns we complain about now. Specifically the portal. Today's CFB players were all born post-2000. Every one of these kids has had a phone or electronic device in their hands since they were big enough to sit up on their own. Their whole lives have been built on instant gratification and feedback specifically with social media. They've got social media pages probably in middle school. Their heads are glued to their phones desperately yearnign for likes, shares, clicks, follows, mentions, etc. Then when they're in HS they're good at sports so their entire communities are in love with them telling them how good they are. So now we get to college and we have NIL, portals, open payments, etc. "Oh I'm only 2nd string and not going to start? See ya I'll go somewhere else". AGain, instant gratificaiton. So now to the topic at hand, every player has to make an announcement so they can get that dopamine hit that comes with a like and share. Used to be they'd make a spectacle when they committed to their college, then another one when they declared for the NFL. Now it's more than that, now we're getting big announcements that nothing at all is changing and they're sipmly returning to paly next year. Or theyr'e making announcmenestt that they are entering the portal. It's just nonstop and as NIL continues to careen off the rails it will probably only get worse.

Thank you Jesus! I was worried about that loss!

Any word on Van Pran?
He is truly the guy I'm most concerned about leaving, especially with Ericson gone.

I'm failing to see a difference with your Sony/Chubb comparison.

I'm pretty sure Nick and Sony started a #runitback campaign on twitter. And they were joined by Bellamy and Walker.
You keep dogging Ladd for some reason. "Hollywood" "glamour shots". I fail to see where the sarcasm comes from.

I don't get Instagram. So you are probably seeing things that I don't.
I haven't seen anything like a glamour shot. Has he even referenced 2024?
You are putting a lot out there on the internet and I just haven't seen anything to support it.

He's draft eligible now. Plenty of guys who are draft eligible announce they're coming back for one more season.

Those graphics they guys post are done by the football support team.

Graphics team really missed an opportunity to say Return of the Mac.

So the staff makes them then. Unlike how teenage girls have to drive all the way out to Georgia Square Mall to hit up Glamour Shots. What a relief. Wait. No. Its still the same thing.

I think some are missing my point.
Sure. Lots of of players decide, for a variety of reasons, not to enter the draft, and then announce they are coming back for another run in their last year of eligibility. Two famous examples i listed wwere Chubb and Sony.
But Ladd has two years of eligibility left. So this is different. By him announcing with his staff created glamour shot that he is coming back for “1 more year”, he is effectively already going ahead and announcing that he will be foregoing his last year of eligilbilit in 2024 and will instead enter the 2024 nfl draft. While he hasnt even set foot on the practice field yet for 2023.
The problem here is that nothing in this life is guaranteed in case you havent noticed. So this is very unwise and also a little arrogant, in my opinion.

Yeah so I was confused by this post because I thought he was a sophomore and had to come back next year anyway.
So is that true or no?

He redshirted, so he's 3 years removed from high school. Same class as kelee. So he could've left now if he wanted.
