Ohio State that the dude only cares about making the big play, making a splash. It really sucks that Auburn didn’t hire him. Freeze is a much better HC.

I was really hoping that auburn got him. He is a joke. I have no fear of him as a coach....Sadly auburn scored a much better coach.

Bama scored 35 points in that game. The defense couldn't stop Cardale Jones and Ezekiel Elliott from running over them. That's what cost us that game. Ezekiel Elliott is a great back, but I'm still shaking my head about Cardale Jones running over us.

Hard disagree. We had no business making the playoffs with that defense and Blake Sims as QB

I have a feeling that if Auburn hired Lane his 4th down conversion rate would have increased from a paltry 0% to a magical 80% or more. Especially in games in that voodoo shithole Jordan Hare

Not using Derrick Henry to gain crucial first downs in that game soured me on Kiffin for a very long time.

Lane Kiffin would of been a major THORN in our side if would've took the job at AUBURN.

He doesn't have nowhere near the talent of a lot these big schools but Kiffin always gets the most out of them so he's a dang good coach.

Matter of fact...tell me what 5 stars he got on his team without looking at their recruiting class...and I'll wait.

We lost our best LB Ragland and our best safety Landon Collins in that game; OSU exploited that with Elliott/Cardale runs to put the game away. Of course Simms had a very poor game. The stage got too big for him, IMO. He made many uncharacteristic mistakes.

Collins and Foster had got injured and Ragland was the guy that got abused on that long TD run to ice the game.

Sims turned the ball over 3 times that game, one was a pick six I believe.

No, Ragland was out on the long run that put the game away.

Just rewatched it, Trey DePriest and Shaun Dion Hamilton were in.

Blake Sims was a fine quarterback. We won the championship a year later with a lesser talented jake Coker. Sims threw a great deep ball and was very mobile. He also threw the wr screen as good as anyone we’ve had under saban.

Kiffin didn’t run Henry enough. He was averaging almost 10 yards per touch in that game. He learned from his mistakes though next season and Henry got more than enough touches

And Kiffin was the OC then too. Hell you could argue that Kiffin got our 3 worst QBs since Greg McElroy

Bingo. Lane as a coordinator is pretty freaking elite. Jury still out as head coach but average comes to mind so far at Ole Miss.

Well, IMO we went away from Henry who was absolutely gashing OSU. That late defensive issue doesn’t take away an almost entire game of forcing Sims into situations he wasn’t great in.

I strongly disagree with this. Coker had talent, just couldnt quite out it together upstairs. If he were coming out this year he would be a second rounder because of the success of Josh Allen. He was an unrefined, big bodied, mobile guy, with a huge arm.

That game could have gotten a lot uglier if JK Scott wasn't elite. It's the best performance by a college punter I have ever seen. And he was a freshman.

He had good measurables and the guy had the heart of a lion but that doesn’t make him a great qb. We could use the same argument and say if Blake had another season what he would’ve done. Blake broke almost every single season record in his one year as a starter. Coker however was benched and came back stronger after being benched. But Coker had a much better defense than Blake did. Blake had to score points every game because of our subpar defense that year.

It's unclear why Henry wasn't getting 30 carries a game from the time that he was a true freshman. He is one of the best backs in the history of football and its criminal how much of his time at Bama was wasted. Yeldon should've been riding the pine behind both Henry and Drake.
