Only at USC can we screw this up so badly. In all seriousness, who is this guy Arky fans? Would this hire be as atrocious as it appears?

Ex-NFL OC... thought he might end up ours if Briles bailed.

I've heard yall soured on Briles a bit this year but this seems like we shopped at the Dollar Tree like usual. I'm talking the Dollar Tree from 10 years ago too where everything was truly $1

We haven't involved a TE all season. Dowell will be well rested.

He use to be the Titans OC back 7-10 years ago maybe. Everyone knew he was in over his head from day 1. But to be fair that was when the Titans were going through a bad run without much talent.

Definitely not a guy I think of when it comes to high scoring offense but that doesn’t mean he won’t do a good job.

Former Arkansas fan favorite backup QB that was a failed NFL OC for many years. Got back in to the college game and has been our TE coach the past two years. He’s been rumored to be our OC in waiting if Briles were to leave.

Many folks freak out when talking about him because they assume he’ll put his god awful NFL system in place if hired as OC but our insiders have held firm that he’s been studying under Briles and would have been asked to keep running the Briles system here if he got the job.

Considering Beamer took a shot at Briles first and didn’t get him, I would guess that the plan is for Dowell to take the system there and run it like we planned to have him do. That’s really the only thing that makes sense about the hire.

He isn’t a terrible hire. Been around a while but this will be his first big time college OC gig. I think he will do well for you

Supposedly he’s a super recruiter. I’m sure it has a lot to do with sitting in the living room of high school athletes and talking about calling plays in the nfl and the professional players he knew and worked with. That type of shite normally makes high schoolers eyes light up.

Isn't that what Carolina fans said about the Beamer hired? Then again thing turned out to be pretty good.

I love how we throw this around at the drop of a hat like the stadium won’t sell out every home game no matter what happens

I put this in the other thread…

Relieved if you guys hire him, knowing he will not be our OC if Briles leaves…upset he is leaving because he has put together a talented TE room.

Not a homerun hire but he's clearly more qualified than Satterfield

Literally anyone would've appeased the fan base except a hire like this. Shane is totally tone deaf when it comes to hiring and maintaining positive momentum
