Starting about the second half of OM game..where Bama seemed to instantly develop a power run game, I started to be less .. pessimistic. Then in garbage time of AP game saw a throw by Simpson that led me further off the ledge. Over a defender to the sideline ..35 yds or so in total. I figured if he can make those throws then. Bama will be alright ( if we return to physical defense)

That first throw is ridiculous

B, Simpson can be and probably is the real deal. Those throws he made were absolutely beautiful to watch. We have a gem and Simpson is that gem.

Maybe C, Maye could be that "transfer". He initially committed to us before decommitting and enrolling at UNC. (Also worth noting that Brown says schools are tampering with Maye and offering him a large amount of money and I'm pretty sure we might be one of those schools)

Edit: Maye says he's not leaving, I guess it's B for me then

Per ESPN, he has only played in 3 games this year. I believe he can play in 4 and still maintain redshirt status.

Then needs to at least split time with Milroe against K State.

Do kids and coaches at programs like Alabama - and at positions like QB - still care about a redshirt?

How many highly recruited QBs at Top 10 programs are staying for 5 seasons? I'm sure you'd prefer to keep the flexibility, but if the option is compete for the starting job in 2023 via playing in the Sugar Bowl or "keep your redshirt", I cannot imagine that is very tough decision at all.

With transfers the way they are I think it’s less of a deal.

Right now, I don't think it really matters anymore because of what's happening in College Football

I get it for developmental positions/programs. But if you are thinking about redshirting in a situation like Simpson's, you are basically saying that you think you'll transfer. Because he's either leaving after 3 or 4 years on campus if he wins the job and plays well.

It doesn’t matter anyway because if he’s good, he’ll be gone in two years.

Pretty sure it was footage from during the regular season. I think that walk-on receiver who hit the portal originally posted it because he has no game film.

I believe you are correct Mr. McCockinner. Unless something has changed, if he has played in 3 games, he will be able to play in the bowl and maintain a redshirt.

From rolltide.com
quote:

Talented passer from neighboring Tennessee ... one of the top quarterback recruits in the latest cycle ... played in four games, completing 4-of-5 passes for 35 yards. Utah State: Entered in the final minutes of the game ... went 1-of-2 for 10 yards in his debut. ULM: Came in late at quarterback as the Tide ran down the clock. Vanderbilt: Completed his lone pass attempt for a gain of five yards. Austin Peay: Finished 2-of-2 passing for 20 yards against the Governors.

Ty has played 4 games.

Would like to see Milroe win. He is a home run threat every time he takes off. He is raw needs time and reps with WRs, not sure he will get that here. He has Jalen like potential in his future. Who can believe what Jalen has turned into?
There will be competition in the spring and fall, let the best man win. If it’s Simpson so be it.

Ty Simpson... I'd like to think we're able to develop our own 5 star recruits to be able to start by their sophomore year.

Milroe might potentially could be a Kyle Pitts type TE for us? It's just not there at QB, but tremendous athletic talent.
