Easy to Forget It's a Rebuilding Year

Whether it was LSU overachieving, Ole Miss playing its soft opening schedule, or Florida popping out an unexpected win over Utah, it's been easy to forget that this season was a rebuilding season at those schools.

Is a myth now with NIL and portal. Can’t really build anymore and don’t buy people selling you that. It’s win now or else.

Yep. Not much of an excuse with the portal.

Florida and LSU should never be in a rebuilding mode.

I don't think you understand how the portal works for most schools out side of the top 6-7 in the country.
You 100% have rebuilding years. And no you don't need rebuilding years when you are top 5 recruiting for 8 straight years. But everyone else does.

LSU and Ole Miss did that, I think, up to a reasonable point. Brian Kelley was in year 1 of what everyone understood to be a mess--you could see that in the Florida State game. All things considered, he did a great job in year 1.
Ole Miss lost its top 7 contributors on offense, so it was a portal do-over. One myth I think there is about the portal is you can just throw a box of parts together and make a team. These things take a bit to gel. Kiffin should have won the Egg Bowl. Wasn't surprised at the other losses.
Billy Napier also took over a mess. Jury's out on how well that guy is going to do over the long haul, but it's not going to be easy. The East is better right now than it has been in years.

Yeah, everyone can have UGA’s season just like that.

It eventually comes for everyone.

Exactly why we hired BK. And look what happened year 1. That said to go 6-6 the last two seasons it was clearly a rebuilding year this year for us.

Funny, seemed to me like his running game, upon which he depended all year, got stuffed for 78 yards by a more physical team, and the only reason he had a chance was because of turnovers and Will Rogers’ often poor pocket awareness.

I agree that our running game got stuffed, but if Kiffin kicks that field goal in the second half, we win the game regardless of us failing a 2-pt conversion. That game could have gone either way.

You really can't. It just takes time for 11 strangers to get on the same page. And worse for teams firing a coach because his old players can jump ship easily.

Hey man, that Troy win looks better and better every week! Ignore the other ones though.

Both defenses played well in the Egg Bowl. I'd argue the offenses underperformed.
I disagree with the above poster saying the Rebs "should've" won the Egg Bowl. We had chances, but State stopped us in the redzone.

PLease explain to me how Ole miss is in a "rebuilding year" in year 3 under Kiffin?!?
LSU - absolutely, we played 39 players and a converted WR at QB in our shitty bowl game just a few months before the season. Ole Miss made it to the Sugar Bowl last year but they were in a rebuild this year? Yea, OK. Whatever helps you cope with that disastrous finish.

Replaced a ton of starters. Many of the replacements were from the portal.

I don't think you understand what "rebuilding' means.
