So every SEC school is allowed to make splash hires but Auburn is supposed to promote the interim HC who has nearly zero HC experience (and zero coordinator experience)?

He has NO CF HC experience. NONE. Head coaching is hard enough, The SEC is the last place you want to start, and the WEST is the most unlikely place in the world for ANY coach to win.
He is loved by Auburn fans right now, if he wins Saturday he will be on a pedestal for LIFE. But that doesn't mean he can recruit, play CEO, etc.
He should go cut his teeth elsewhere as his likely hood of long-term success would probably be less than 10% in the SEC initially.

The thing that will get Lane to go to Auburn of all places is a Jimbo Fisher type of contract. Guaranteed decade of millions. No strings attached. Wouldn’t be a bad move for anyone to take such a contract. I mean it’s not like Auburn hasn’t had buyers remorse before and paid off coaches. Ever. But Lane can retire off Auburn’s money. He has grown up a lot thanks to Saban teaching him how to be a grown up. He’s almost there.

I love Cadillac, but he would have a better chance of succeeding showing up tomorrow and becoming the HC of Manchester United than he would of succeeding as a SEC W head coach.

He’s not the right type of coach.
LSU had an interim head coach who did admirably. What did lsu do? They rewarded him for his efforts. Auburn has the opportunity to reward the interim for his efforts. What will they do?
