Let's be honest... We don't pass the eye test. We're sloppy and undisciplined. Our offense relies solely on Bryce and our defense is inconsistent against competent QB play. Saban needs to make changes on this team for next year.

As for this year and where it stands...
Ohio State and Michigan still need to play. UGA and TN still need to play. Clemson has a pretty easy road from here. IF (and that's a big if, given our road game performances this year) we can win out and win the SEC... We would have 3 one loss SEC teams.

Bottom line, we have to win out and do it looking better than we have been.

OP, agree with what you are saying. We have looked subpar the past 2 years. If Saban doesn't make changes at the end of the year, we will continue the slide, along with Saban's hunger to maintain his superiority.

Win the SEC with one loss and you’re in

Yep, win what’s in front us and let everyone else sort out the rest.

If we win out and we look the same as we have looked we are in. A one loss sec champion isn’t getting left out.

So what? If we lose again we are 100% out. If we don't lose again we are 100% in. That's really all there is to it. Eye test will be irrelevant if we are a 1 loss SEC champ.

If we win out it doesn't matter how we look. They aren't keeping a 12-1 SEC Champion out of the playoffs.

We can win every game 2-0 or 77-76 the rest of the year and we’d be in as SEC champs.

Looks don’t matter at this point. Wins are wins. 12-1 SEC Champ Bama is in the playoffs regardless.

OP, I agree that looks do matter. By looks, you are saying our team does not match the same standards I have seen in our past teams or the efficiency seen in other teams this year. Thus we are lacking the excellency of play to win the NC in comparison to the top teams I see this year.

They shouldn't be, we lost a game and the 5 have all taken care of business. We're lucky to not be behind TCU.

Going by looks we probably don’t beat LSU in Baton Rouge or Georgia. I was hoping the Tennessee loss made this team look in the mirror and go out and boat race Mississippi State, but we won by a good looking score because Mike Leach is a dumbass.

I’ll be happy as hell (the day after the SEC championship) if we beat everybody by one. The way this team plays on the road, doesn’t execute, drop passes, bad oline, penalties, coaches stay with same game plan, having Dallas in coverage, it all looks like no way we win out.

Every team has flaws, we seem to have a lot. Hear is raising a beer to Bama coming out of the bye week with a bunch of hungry dogs, led by Ricks shutting down his old team, Anderson becoming Anderson of 2012, Bryce and Gibbs getting a WR stud to start showing out with them, and the damn offensive line to freaking go and put some damn fear into the other team! Push them around instead of getting pushed around yourself! Get a little DJ Fluker in ya and hurt somebody! If we need two yards, that’s our two yards plus one more!

Roll Tide!

No we don't. The SEC champ if it is Bama will get in easily even if we win from here on out by 1 point on a last second hail mary

Everyone is saying just win out and that’s true but doing that for this team is anything but simple. They have to travel to Baton Rouge and Oxford and they have struggled on the road. Our top two opponents in the west at their house and we’re just supposed to win. Then we are supposed to go to Atlanta and beat one of the last 2 SEC teams to beat us. All this with BooB calling random arse plays and Golding calling his “never adjust “ defense. That’s a big ask, guys. Alabama still has more raw talent than almost anyone in the country so there’s always a puncher’s chance but our talent is handicapped by the substandard coaches which negates our talent advantage. I don’t see it happening this year. And that’s a shame because Will Anderson and Bryce Young among others deserve a natty but I’m afraid that is a pipe dream.

They were a missed fg away from beating a much better opponent than LSU or Ole Miss in a hostile environment after 17 penalties. They’ll be fine as long as they can hold off any serious injuries. Even with O’Brien’s trash play-calling, this offense can move the ball under pressure.

Also, we might get Dale, Oatis, and McLaughlin back. Ricks is rising up, and we now have another speedster at receiver in Harrell. This weekend will hopefully be the first time they look like a dominant team

And if we had missed the FG against Texas, we would’ve lost to an average Texas team. The penalties seem to be the rule, not the exception.

We seem to play to our opponent instead of playing to our standard. Our defense isn’t reliable at critical times and our offense has no identity outside of Bryce scrambling to make a play. All of that means we are at risk against any team that we simply can’t out talent.

The next two weeks are far from a given. We simply can’t go through the motions and win. LSU and Ole Miss have talent and will have the motivation to take it to us. What we don’t need is another 2010 when we rolled in Baton Rouge thinking they were going to roll over, play a god awful game, and then let them somehow end our title hopes because we weren’t playing like our season was on the line.

I didn’t say they were given, but using Texas is a poor example. That’s like Georgia bragging about dominating Oregon. Early season games don’t tell much about a team. Some don’t get in a rhythm till later on. Luckily Bama had the talent to win that one, but if the two teams played today, I think it would be a much larger margin for Bama, especially if we saw the version of Bama playing against Arkansas up until Bryce’s injury.

honestly, i think we get put out our misery saturday by lsu. hope i'm wrong. bama may very well score 50 points, and get beat 55 to 50. hate being a debby-downer, but this team hasnt shown anything near what it will take to win out and win the sec. then again, i'm a terrible prognosticator, lets hope that continues.

Bama is at 6 with one loss behind 5 undefeated P5 teams, 4 of which have been CFP teams recently and one beat Bama. Where should they be?

On the flipside, I think it's telling the CFP committee still thinks enough of the team (as poorly and inconsistent as they have played at times) to have them ahead of an undefeated Big 12 team who has beaten OU, KSU, OSU and a scrappy KU.

That said, it will all sort itself out.
