I was at J-H for both HC's final victories at AU: Harsin's final win vs Mizzou this year, and Dye's las victory over what was then SE La (which became La-La, and now ULa) in 1992.

Both games came down to a last-second FG, Win Lyles hit a game-winner as the clock expired to come from behind 25-24, Mizzou's fat kicker missed a game-winner this year and Anders won it in O/T (with a huge assist from the fumble-fingered Mizzou RB).

Somehow I don't think Harsin will be treated as warmly by the AU faithful as Dye was....

Sarcasm sharp as a razor blade there.

final win vs Mizzou

That’s a generous statement

Subtlety has never been my long suit

And now that I think about it, I was there for Barfield's last win as well, vs USM in 1980.

I do wonder if anyone else on this forum were at any of those games, or if they were at other recent AU HC's final wins:

1998 Ole Miss (Bowden)
2008 UT-Martin (Tubs)
2012 Alabama A&M (Chiz)
2020 MSU (Gustav)

I’m not sure I would call the Mizzou win a victory with much confidence. I really have no words to describe what we saw that day.

I was at both as well. Also, for 2012 (I'm pretty sure).

one of the strangest facts about AU coach firings/hirings… Gus’s career started with a win over Mike Leach (wazzou 2013) and ended with a win over Mike Leach (Miss st 2020)

Another strange factoid:

Dye’s replacement was the HC of a team AU shut out during his final season - Samford, coached by Terry Bowden.

Six years later we replaced Bowdrn with the HC of a team AU shut out in HIS final season - Ole Miss, coached by Tuberville.

We could have the Bryan Harsin Gameday Porta Potty, provided it's placed in the most distant parking area...don't want him anywhere near JHS.

Just out of curiosity, is your handle a reference to the Traffic LP/song?

The difference between Dye and Harsin is Pat Dye had the field named after him and Harsin will soon become an afterthought.

fricking young’uns!

LP is for “long play”, i.e. albums, 33 rpm.

“45s” were “short play”, i.e. singles, 45 rpm.
