Very smart people run Auburn regardless of what the narrative may be. I have faith they will get this right. They see it like we see it.
Alignment with EVERYONE being on the same page will be key.

Firing Harsin and the rest of the potato crew is the first step. Hiring a good HFC is the second. Allowing him to run the football program as he sees fit is the third.

NO! We hired a stupid frick, out of Iowa, to be President of the university. He turned around and gave Gus a massive contract extension for coming up 2nd in the SEC. Then we hire a Notre Dame grad, who was working for Buffalo at the time, to be the AD. He hired a dumb frick out of Idaho as the football coach. Half of his recruits, in his whole 2nd year on the job, have left the program.
Our leadership is inept, I embrace it, and have no doubt the next hires will be just as bad as the last. Our fanbase is pining for a coach to lead the program, than was the OC of a HIGH SCHOOL team, two years ago.
It is what it is.

This is where the clouds move in. Due to Step A and our history, this could be a very hard thing to sell to a "Good HFC". Even if Auburn intended to do this, I am not sure anyone would believe them.

Yes this too shall pass. When AU begins its search for a new head football coach, how about considering Dave Aranda? Coach Aranda is young, energetic and a proven head coach of a Power Five program? He will be most successful at AU.

Gave Gus $49 million, Gus fired less than halfway through his contract
Bryan Harsin becomes the new HC
The series of horrible decisions has set Auburn back years in football.
ETA: we just got beat by two touch downs to Arkansas at Jordan Hare, and the corpses at the top ranks still keeping harsin.

I think the mess extends well beyond athletics and is the result of an apathetic president Gouge in his second tour in the role. There are people in interim roles all across the university. There is a leadership vacuum. The current president has a very difficult job ahead of him and the issue literally spans the entire university. The current state of athletics is a symptom of a much larger issue.
