The University of South Carolina announced today it will simplify its branding marks, focusing on its iconic tree-and-gates academic logo and introducing a USC spirit mark. The university also will sunset the “UofSC” logo mark adopted in 2019.
quote:
The university will be referred to as the University of South Carolina, USC, South Carolina or Carolina in editorial and marketing materials.

Pretty cool tbh, they were there first anyway

It will always be South Carolina to me because:
USC = Southern Cal
Carolina = North Carolina
USC = Southern Cal
Carolina = North Carolina

Good. UofSC was one of the dumbest decisions this University has ever made. A bunch of spinless people running that place.

Did they retain dibs on South Cackalacky?

Univ of North Carolina was founded about 12 years before Univ of South Carolina.
Carolina = UNC

I guess I get trying to distinguish ourselves, but it was a concession to So Cal that no fan, student, or alumni asked for or wanted and instead caused considerable backlash.
I still don’t know why it’s such a big deal. So many other schools share acronyms and it’s never an issue. The two UTs even came to an agreement on how they could both use similar logos.

I'm referring to the USC in California

So by your logic USC = South Carolina.
Thanks for confirming

THe 1801 is a nice subtle troll, pointing out the the REAL USC was first and Southern Cal just had a better marketing department...

I feel like the 1801 had been a part of the logo for a while now. I remember seeing it everywhere when I was in school years ago

Sure, if you feel that way but when I hear “USC” I automatically think of the Trojans; and I’m willing to bet the vast majority of college sports fans share this sentiment.

Well, nobody really cares what you think so

Maybe they didn't have a better marketing department. Maybe they are just located in the second largest city and media market and have a historically elite foosball program.

I prefer Gas Pumpers.

I didn’t ask anyone for permission to share my opinion.

One one the worst cheating schools in college sports, they really should rebrand as U$C or USCheats.
